DENTAL PHOBIC AND I NEED A DENTIST!
Due to bad dental experinces I have had as an child and an adult- I have not gone to get a cleaning in awhile, and I might have a cavity. I need a good dentist with there phone # if possible, on the south shore of Nassau county that deals with people like me- very phobic. I have good dental insurance- but am willing to pay if I had to. I have heard that dentistry has gotten better- but to me it is a torture chair- that is how phobic I am. Can someone recommned there dentist to me... I have even told myself that if I can get thur this- I will get my teeth lightened- eventually. PS My teeth look good, I get compliments all the time- but I really need to take care of this before there is a big problem. TIA and say some prayers for me....

I am as dental phobic if not more than you and I just started seeing Dr. Stewart Mandel in Plainview. I feel very comfortable with him and would highly recommend him. He doesn't push you and does everything nice and slow. DH has been using him for years.

I see Lisa for my cleanings. Marie is the receptionist/billing/insurance person.
I have been his patient for years and before that the doc be bought the practice from. He's very gentle, he's young and has a great sense of humor.
He's a fabulous dentist. I am always full of anxiety and he calms me down.

I can't recommend one in that area, but I just wanted to say that I've had loads of dental work done and I can honestly say that its never hurt.  The only time it hurt was the days AFTER I got my wisdom teeth out...and I've had a TON of fillings, 2 root canals with 2 crowns, whitening....so don't worry...just please get it taken care of before you do need serious/painful work done!!!

I have a similar history - extensive dental work as a child, prevented me from going back for almost 10 years.
So far, he's filled 2 cavities, gave me 3 crowns, 2 cleanings. He also referred me to the best oral surgeon I've ever encountered last week when I needed to have an emergency extraction.
He has an office in his house but it's up to date, clean, and his family runs the business so they are very nice and friendly people.
