Its amazing how the people that started this whole "ghetto" as being offensive, in actuality started the drama themselves here...all the original poster was doing was venting about her next door neighbors...she used the word "ghetto" to describe how some perceive others who are from the ghetto to act...its amazing how people jump on the bandwagon and start drama themselves...

honestly- because this is the real world- not a montessori school.
I dont think people need to look up the history of each word before they use it.
People in England use the word 'Fag' to describe cigarettes, but you wouldnt fault them for using it here, because -despite the history and connotations that it has- it has a different meaning to them.
the funny thing is- most of the people that grew up in Ghetto neighborhoods (myself included) arent even the ones that are offended by the comment- rather, the ones that feel the need to be offended for those who cant be here to be offended themselves. 
anyway- if you say that its an "Italian neighborhood".. it would be because Italians live there, right? Well, you can apply the same logic for the english language to the use of the term 'ghetto'. 
I don't disagree that using the term can be innocuous - but, clearly, here, this touches a nerve to some, and it raised some flags in my mind because I don't think that in this specific instance it's just innocent venting. Combined with some of this person's other posts, I find it quite troublesome, and I have absolutely no quandry in stating that.

As soon as I read the original post I knew exactly what she was talking about. So did everyone else. The only "drama" on here was not started by the OP. Some people need to lighten up.
You and I never see eye to eye on most issues, so I'm actually relieved in a way that we fall on the opposite side of the spectrum here. I prefer to stay deep, thank you very much

When we were younger, we always knew when our friends were in trouble and we KNEW not to call for them if we heard the screaming. And vice versa.
When the neighbors were fighting it was the only time our family was quiet at dinner
