I actually never figure out people who post under fake names...I guess b/c I'm not on enough to know. But I will say this. TTC used to be better when people used their real names! For some reason, I love knowing who is TTC....lol. I totally understand people NOT wanting to say, totally...it just ruins it for me.

My feeling is if you post something, you make it public knowledge and if you get called out on it - guess what - it was you who posted it in the first place so deal with it, don't get all pizzy, if you don't want people to know your business why post it for everyone to see in the first place.

i write what i mean and mean what i say. i don't sugarcoat and people get upset by that. but i don't sugarcoat in real life either. i'll never understand the "pollyannaing" on threads. and i'll never understand why people post such personal issues and then get upset when someone calls them on it
i totally agree with goldi--i would NEVER post personal stuff on here that i wouldn't say in front of my whole family. i have too much respect for them to do that.

I think that people enjoy being 'popular' and well liked - even if it IS only on a message board. So they state an opinion that goes with the majority - or that they feel may encourage people to sympathize or like them better.
And then - sometimes - it backfires. Because if you are not true to yourself, it will catch up with you - ESPECIALLY when you have written it on a public message board.
Having said that (and I know this might cause some people to huff & puff) I think that some people look for opportunities to call other folks out. And it is not done to be helpful - it is just done to be mean or spiteful or just to create drama.
Not that I am averse to drama. I admit that I totally enjoy seeing it on here from time to time.

Ya know, I always thought this.
I have to admit I made up a name when I found out I was PG, but, no one figured it out.
If I was having marital problems or inlaw problems anything like that, to me, its personal and Im honeslty afraid of posting it on here.

for the financial related questions - I really think it's just because people are financially irresponsible and think they're entitled to things that they can not afford. I am always when people will post about how broke they are and then three weeks later have purchased a brand new car that costs at least $20K to $30K, are going on a $$$$ vacation or buying a big ticket item like a LCD tv (and financing it to boot!).

I think people should be flattered that others actually recall the details. It means we're actually reading their posts and taking the time to give our advice.
If you're called out on something in a later post, you're asking for it - they should use this board as an objective friend. Although they may get defensive when called out on something, it might actually hit home. I would hope...

YES! There were posts like this a while back, complaining about money then a few weeks later, it was all fab vacations and splurges. I'm like, "OK...do you have a cash issue OR not?" I want to help, but if you're really just joshing about money issues then I wasted my time helping you with my answer!!! LOL

I hate reading about someone's hardships -- and then how they are throwing away $$ 2 posts later. Like why did I waste any sympathy or advice on you???? And yes, then they get all huffy if you call them out... why bother posting then?? I think in certain instances, at least one, it is a CRY for attention - which is sad....

I love to talk general on the board, but I do not get into the real nitty gritty...I guess I am just kinda private that way...I have FM'd some people before with regards to issues they may hve posted about if I do not feel comfortable publicly posting
