Would you give this as a gift to a 9 Year old?
I was at the outlets today, and this was on clearance for a steal, so i picked it up. I am not sure if I should give it to my niece who is turning 9 this month as a birthday present, or list it on ebay...
Opinions please....

It's really cute, but I don't think I would give a 9 year old a Coach bag. I know people will disagree with me, but I don't like the idea of kids that young having designer stuff.

its cute...if shes into purses/girly things then i think she'd like it. u know her best. i was a tomboy for a long time so i wouldn't have enjoyed it much, but she may!

Yes, she is into girly things...she has a passion for American Girl stuff...she has to have her clothes now from certain designers and when we asked SIL what to get for her birthday, she said oh she just wants money to buy herself something cute....
I do not like giving money, so with this on clearance for 30.00, I figured, why not!
I am leaning twards getting it for her..I do not see it as "adult" eithe, and perfect for a kid...albeit maybe someone a little older, but she is "mature"

my 9 year old cousin would LOVE it. she's a mini fashionista. her 11 year old sister is a tomboy and could care less about bags. So i guess it depends on if she would use it and appreciate it!

i agree, too.
then again, when i was 9, i HATED pocketbooks, i was such a tomboy. But, my nieces would probably love that--- more just b/c of the fact that its a bad, then b/c of the label.

My daughter is 10 and saw a similar one at Marshall's and loved it! Yeah it's Coach, but she really doesn't have any concept of what that means yet. I didn't get it for her though because it was $79 there.
For $30 I would definitely get it for her!

yeah--I am pretty sure she has no idea what Coach is..and I am not getting it just for the brand, I thought it was cute, and was trying to think of who to give it to, since its a little too young for me...but would ebay it if it was not appropriate for my niece
They also had the wristlets and they had the same kind of bag and wristlets in stripes for an extra 50% off, and I saw a ton of young girls (10-11) with the wristlets.

agreed - I think it's cute, but I don't necessarily like that it's designer, esp Holly, since you mentioned that she already only wants clothes from certain deisgners.

I think it depends on the child. I would have given that to my nieces when they were 9 because they knew what Coach was and they would have appreciated it. Then again, if you treat it as a cute bag and don't make a big deal out of it being Coach, then it shouldn't make a difference. If the same style bag existed at Target, you wouldn't give it a second thought. Go for it and let her enjoy it.

hmm...good point!
By designers I guess I mean stores..like she likes stuff at Limited Too but not at Gap...
Originally we were told she wants money, but I just hate giving money as a gift...last year we all chipped in and got her an American Girl Doll...but shoot, when I was 8 years old, nobody chipped in to purchase a doll that costs 100 dollars plus!
I will have to give this more thought..I need to mail it by friday, whatever I get her
