Completely opposite. My family is very close, we have a lot of traditions. His family doesn't even seem like family to me.

My family is totally expressive - hugs, raucous laughter - takes us an hour to say goodbye to one another - and we never get off the phone w/o saying 'i love you.' Dh's family is totally different.
That sounds like us and a few more things

Total opposites... DH's family is very eccentric, loud and liberal.
Mine is very quiet and conservative. There's been more than one occasion where I thought my mother would faint from an idea MIL had.

I would say they are pretty different. Both my parents are from the Bronx and then moved to LI, his family is from a small upstate town.
IL's were here this past weekend and his dad started to talk to my dad about guns for hunting and my dad was like   ... my dad is not one to ever be quiet about anything, but he was at a loss for words - he had NO idea how to respond.

Similar.
Family Oriented. Spend time with each side of the family at least 1x a week.
My parents and inlaws are pretty good friends as well. Its great.

Somewhat different. My family is very close and share almost all holidays together. My ILs never share any holidays with their siblings/extended family. They maybe see each other once a year.
When it comes to religion/faith, I'd say that's where they are most similar.

Hmm...Like apples and oranges Not from the same tree.
Mine is very traditional, polite and "proper" and we never had much $ growing up..
My in-laws are loud, non-traditional, curse a lot and have a lot of $ (Or at least more than we ever had!)
