So, the new job is a little intense/overwhelming

I came in on the busiest day of their month; I worked through lunch and stayed until 7:30. I hope it's not like that everyday...they just kinda threw me in and I still have SO MUCH to figure out. The person in my spot before was really unorganized, so I just have a lot of work ahead of me. On the upside, the people seem nice, I don't even have to leave in the morning until 9, and I saw a bunch of people wearing jeans!

That sucks when you get thrown in like that. I'm sure in a few weeks it will calm down.

I came home and cried, though. I hadn't eaten all day, I had a headache, and I was overwhelmed. That's what I do when I'm stressed. I cry! Anyway, I'm excited to get going today....I know it'll be great.

Make sure you go prepared today with snacks and you have to take a lunch break. That time is yours to regroup. I think once this week is over, you will feel a little better about it.

I hope things are a little better today! At least you know what you are in for until you get things in order. Definately keep some snacks with you & stay hydrated!

It's always overwhelming in the beginning, but you're an intelligent person and I'm sure you'll adapt and get the hang of it shortly.

Best of luck Lana!Chat Icon

It's hard to just jump in and be productive like that, but you'll figure it out soon enough. And like you said, this is a busy time for them, I'm sure it will calm down. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: So, the new job is a little intense/overwhelming

I had a very similar first say here-- things did calm down a bit, although-- I know there will be plenty of days that are like that.

In a way-- it's kinda good to just be thrown in like that.

I know it sounds crazy but I always end up doing better at jobs where I am jsut thrown into the madness.
