8/28 UDATED with some info..Rise of the Jack O'Lanterns at Old Westbury
.. Does anyone have any idea if this would be appropriate with an 11 month old? Id like to take DD to a 6:30 show but it will already be dark.. I wonder if she will be scared ??

If it's anything like the Jack O'Lantern Blaze in Croton (in Westchester), it is probably fine unless she is afraid of the dark or crowds. It's not super dark though, b/c of the light from teh pumkins, and other outdoor lights. Lots of people take little kids in strollers.
(Although--if anyone is going to the Westchester one, this year they are having real life "pumpkin people" which could be scary, but that 's new. Not sure if they have that at Westbury.)

Yes, it wasn't RISE of the Jack O'Lanterns at Old Westbury Gardens. This is our first year! I can promise you'll see more than triangle eyes :)

This is not a scary event at all. Kids are encouraged to come and actually kids under 5 are free.

id love to go opening weekend but do you think it would be too sunny at 6pm? i have a young DD and would want to go early, and online it says sunset on oct 5 isnt until 630ish. hmmmm
7:30pm on Oct 5 is the earliest available time right now. It will be plenty dark! We're also having a live carving demo that night!

This looks so cool! We don't have any kids, I wonder if it would be suitable for just me and DH to go, or if it's more for kids/families?
It's fun for people of all ages! We have some elements specifically geared for us adults!

i am not sure if this is the same one that was around last year, but i have a friend that went to it (or a similar one on long island near westbury) and she thought it was a waste.
i highly recommend the one in westchester if you are willing to make the drive its worth it...tickets sell out fast

I know this is probably unlikely but does anyone have any tickets for Rise of the Jack O Lanters for this coming Friday or Saturday (Oct 26 or 27) that they would want to sell? I need one adult and one child admission. (I have a 3 year old and a 6 year old so my 3 yr old would be free). Any time slot would be fine!!

There is 1 section that is a little unfriendly but the people there will help you out if they are near you. The beginning and end are fine.
