8/28 UDATED with some info..Rise of the Jack O'Lanterns at Old Westbury
This is the 1st year I'm hearing about this. Has anyone gone before? Looks fun.

Edite 8/28--- So I emailed them today asking if this was their 1st year and approximately how long it would take to walk through.
Here is their reply:
The Jack O'Lanterns are spread out along a 1/3 mile trail through the gardens! It takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour to walk through the show.
Yes, it's our first year putting on The RISE!

So now we know the one that a few posters went to last year was a different one.

The do something similar to this upstate but with 1000's of pumpkins. Nice to have this closer.

Three years in a row now I haven't been able to get tickets b/c it was sold out in Sleepy Hollow. I "thought" I was buying them early, but guess not. This is a lot closer!! Thanks.

There was something similar to this in Roslyn at the museum a few years back. It was cool but a muddy mess! Hopefully this is better!

id love to go opening weekend but do you think it would be too sunny at 6pm? i have a young DD and would want to go early, and online it says sunset on oct 5 isnt until 630ish. hmmmm

I went and I was annoyed and dissapointed. Most of them were really lame. Like, I could do a better one and I pretty much suck at it. And it was really expensive. I expected to see cool carvings and most were just the triangle eyes and the mouth. A lot were rotted and we went very early on in the show.
ETA: After reading this thread it may have been the one in Roslyn that I went to.

i am not sure if this is the same one that was around last year, but i have a friend that went to it (or a similar one on long island near westbury) and she thought it was a waste.
i highly recommend the one in westchester if you are willing to make the drive its worth it...tickets sell out fast
