Re: Hubby was robbed at the gym this morning

I'm so sorry your husband got robbed at the Gym, No one should go through that. I hope he gets his belongings back!! No one deserves to have their locker broken into and have their stuff stolen! He is a Victim.

Re: Hubby was robbed at the gym this morning

Saw this thread pop up and was hoping to hear of some positive outcome. I was robbed twice and I know how horrible you and your DH are feeling. If you are able to sue the gym do it!! I feel they should be held responsible. Was there any video security footage?

I can't believe this is still being viewed as his fault. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

So b/c he left everything in a locker, hidden in a sock, stuffed into his shoe, and padlocked with his own personal lock, it's his fault?

Are ya kiddin me?

That's like saying a flirtatious woman who was raped was "Asking for it" so it's her fault??

And if you think that sounds ridiculous, so do the comments about her husband being at fault for getting robbed.

Edited for spelling

Re: Hubby was robbed at the gym this morning

without reading the whole thread and still wondering why this is an issue still...

if you are aware of certain conditions, to limit the chance of the event to occur, you take pre-emptivie measures.

Now while it is not his fault (IMO), he could of left his personal stuff some place besides the lockers that have seem to be broken into several times.

Is this silly, yes, but in life you have to do things because other people are idiots.

While the rape example in the previous post is hard to fight, some believe they dress "sexy" for different reasons. I think im just gonna leave that alone and make another example.

If you know a road is full of potholes and perhaps a dangerous intersection but its the most direct route to get where you need to go, me personally would take the 3 min detour and go around to save my self the the situation of bumpy roads and trying to make a left where you can see anything unless half your car is sticking out. Not my idea of fun. I'll make plans to deal with it so its a non issue.

So no, the victim is not a fault but he could of limited the damage done by avoiding it all together. If you think about to avoid idots that do stupid things...what does it take, leaving your stuff at home, in the car, on you while working out?

For me, I take measure everyday to protect myself. 1 more example is how people run red lights... when i'm first at the light...most people just wait for green and go without looking. I scan both directions, waiting for cars to stop to make sure i will make it to the other side ok. Now that sounds like a process but the reality is it takes 3 seconds. I have watched many people almost get into an accident because if its green, that means its their turn and they go.

The world doesn't work the way people expect it to. If you have to go an extra length to prevent something, do it

You do have a point about protecting yourself but you shouldn't have to change your routine and your life. He safeguarded his possessions and was violated. His car could have gotten broken into as well.

I know many friends who have been the victim of theft at the gym and the thief stole just to steal. The items take were not of significant value but nonetheless theirs.

I for one refuse to live my life in a bubble..you can't predict when you will run into idiots all of the time. You can't live in fear that some idiot will always wrong you.

It's not his fault, period. No matter the circumstances.

I imagine that the $5 lock from Target in a small and empty locker room is less of a theft deterrent than a car alarm system and an open parking lot. And I don't believe anyone said the word 'fault', just that maybe it wasn't the best idea.
