Worst Holiday/Christmas Gifts Ever
What was the worse gift you ever received during the holidays??
I have a few:
1. I have a cousin that for some reason gives me knock off Fila sweatpants every year 
2. When I was little I was deathly afraid of the movie "Alien." My parents thought it would be funny to BEAUTIFULLY wrap a large gift box. When I unwrapped it there was this huge "Alien" doll staring back at me  I SCREAMED at ran. OK I was 6..they got it on video and the family still gets a laugh at it. SO NOT FUNNY 
3. When I was in my early twenties (maybe 21??) I dated this fool for a few months. He thought it would be cool to give me Christmas stocking stuffed with sex toys 
Yea that didn't last very long

I'm usually very happy with my gifts, but one year my cousin got me snowman googley eyed thongs. It was weird opening it in front of the family.

My ex monster in law regifted me with clip back earing she wore to my ex SIL's wedding and in turn ex SIL got the ones she wore to mine

Like 2 or 3 years ago my mom got me a pair of LA GEAR sneakers. Ugh! I just kinda looked at her and she knew she would be at the store the next day returning them.

My ex-SIL gave me a calendar with all of my in-laws birthdays and anniveraries so that I wouldn't forget to send cards or gifts. Mind you, I never received anything for my birthday or anniversary!

My great Aunt used to work at A&S...do I need to tell you how many YEARS ago this was. Every year my brother and I would try to guess at what would be wrapped for us. Typically I would get make-up...make-up that was 30 years old...where the brushes would dissintergrate. My brother would typically get a dress shirt that was 6 sizes too small. Appears that my aunt would buy stuff while it was on sale and then she'd get her employee discount on top of it and would stock pile stuff in her attic. The stuff I am certain was great when she bought it but when she finally got around to giving it as gifts it was 30 years later!

Hahahah! Apparently they do. When i opened them my brother and DH could not stop laughing. I told my mom atleast they didn't have to 2 color shoe laces So we returned them

When I was 12 or 13 my aunt & uncle bought me a nice silver bracelet with my name engraved...but it was spelled wrong! They spelled it AMY, not AIMEE! They did the same thing for my cousin Molly...they spelled her name Mollie. Why wouldn't they check the spelling first!

Well.........DH has an aunt that seems to like to re-gift things........and doesn't think anyone realizes it.
One year I got from her a pair of earrings.......at least she could've cleaned them up a bit and taken the piece of hair that was still in the box.  In the garbage!
Then the following year she gave me and DH a grilled cheese maker.......So we were like cool, we'll use this.
So a few weeks later, DH had taken it out and was gonna use it. And hes like *** is this??? So I look and theres burnt crap all over it. It was obviously used. He was so turned off........needless to say I was too. In the garbage! His dad mentioned something to her about it.......and she was like thats weird, I got it in the mail in its original box. Ya, OK?? It was originally yours and you got caught and you didnt clean it right!
So after that happened, I suggested a grab bag.........this way we wouldnt have to suffer getting used things from her every year and would just hope we werent the ones she picked.
I honestly dont know how people do this. I honestly dont?? I almost find it quite insulting! But, ya live and learn. Thats just how some people are.

I mentioned this on a thread last week but I think it fits here better.
My aunt gave me a set of dreidels for Christmas. She thought it was a Japanese game! 
ETA: I guess it wasn't a bad gift since I did end up playing with it, but it was just really funny that she had no idea what it was!

i never really got bad holiday gifts... although one time DH and i got a set of white embroidered sheets from his grandmother. they had been taken out of the original packaging and stuffed in a USPS box. i think they are still in the basement.

A couple of year ago, my Grandmother found these metal gift bags. They are hard to describe, but they are the size & shape of a small gift bag except they were made of metal & they had small holes (like on netting) so they were completely see through. My grandmother bought one for each woman in the family. She told us they were purses & they were see through like that so that it would be easier yo find our stuff at the bottom of the bag. Now, my Grandmother has dementia, so we're used to her doing some... different things, but we all had to try SO hard not to laugh

My step-SIL gave us a silver picture frame one year that was obviously used (scratches on the surface, wobbly stand, etc.).
The next year we got this weird plastic dolphin statue/snow globe type thing... I don't even know how to describe it besides a waste of space. I suppose it's the thought that counts, but I'm not sure what the thought process was that led her to make that purchase...
ETA: thought of another one. My MIL got us one of those bed in a bag bedding sets, only it was king sized. At the time we had a full size bed. All it would've taken is a simple phonecall to find out what size bed we have, and then it would've been a very nice gift that we wouldn't have had to return!

Ex-boyfriend who lived with for 2 years gave me a gift of leather mini skirt, leopard print blouse & knock-me-down-f-me shoes. I opened it & thought "Oh look a gift for him?"
His other gift was a cookbook for me (cooking was a constant argument with us).

the worse gift i ever got came when i was 20 - a pocahontus (sp?) sleeping bag. As in the cartoon!
I'm sure a little girl would've loved this but at 20, its stupid.

I got one of those holiday decoration posts you stick in the ground in your front yard from my aunt and uncle one year. I lived in a high rise apartment at the time.... It was nice but, completely thoughtless...

It's not in the "worst" category, but more in the "you don't know anything about me" category.
I have a fairly large collection of pewter dragons and wizards that I've been collecting over the years. The entire family knows this. My Aunt thought she would help my "pewter" collection by giving me a pewter kitten on its back with a crystal ball of yarn.
You're missing the whole "Dragons and Wizards" theme concept .....
I'm still trying to figure out how to put the cat in the jaws of one of the dragons....
