Can we talk Christmas/Holiday Gifts?

DH suggested today that we make a list of what Emily "wants" or needs for Christmas this year.

She just had her birthday though and to be honest I don't know where any more toys will go!

And her closet is packed with clothes that she still needs to grow into a bit.

I have some big items in mind that I'd like to get her like a trike or push-car for walks .... or maybe a nice wooden rocking horse....

but honestly I can't think of anything else that she wants/needs that doens't seem excessive to me.

What is on your DD/DS's wish list this holiday season?

We're in the same boat as you so we've decided to do Miranda's bathroom. New paint, accessories, towels, etc. I am hoping to convince DH to rip out the vanity and mirror as well and put new ones in.

She'll get money and some toys and clothes from family and that will be plenty. She's still overloaded from her birthday.

Re: Can we talk Christmas/Holiday Gifts?

I am also thinking that a good set of wooden blocks, some wooden puzzles, and things of that sort might be good and age appropriate -- and would last a long time...

Thinking something like this stuff:

Jack just had his birthday and he got this kitchen set and loves it....

I love this set becuase it is not ugly plastic or overwhelmingly huge. I fits perfectly on the side of our kitchen island so Jack stays occupied while I cook.

Re: Can we talk Christmas/Holiday Gifts?

I posted a couple of weeks ago the must have toys for Christmas 2006 from ToysRUS..

I just got back from Costco and they have a great deal.. My mother bought it for JAcob for his big present for Hannukah..
It is the Little Leaps interactive video game by Leapfrog and it comes with 3 dvd's for $41... I love leapfrog because it is a learning toy company..

That is a great deal since I had just purchased the module (39.99) at Toys rus and it comes with no dvd's and they are 14.99 a piece. I will be returning it in the tomorrow.

i know alot of us on here have 1 year olds or so, JAcob also got a great gift...it is the 5 in one activity cube by parents magazine... It is also a learning toy and he is occupied for hours....

Since Nicholas is only 6 months, I am going to suggest for family to donate to his 529 college fund. He has so many clothes and I am sure he will get alot of toys for his 1st birthday.

Someone bought this for Alex for her birthday and at first I thought it would be useless because she was too young to really understand what it was, but let me tell you, the woman who gave us the present told us this kitchen entertained her daughters for YEARS and OMG WAS SHE RIGHT! Everyday when I bring her home from school and put her on the floor, she literally RUNS to her little kitchen and will play with it for at least 40mins. There's nothing else in the house that engages her that long, not even her videos! Chat Icon

Luka will be 8.5 months at Christmas so I was going to get him the FP Playwall and the play piano thing (Melissa I think you have it for Emily) and I told my mom to get me gc to bru or bbb from my grandparents because we need another carseat. I told family for cloths because I didnt get a lot at all and the stuff I did get at my shower was only up until 3-6 months.

Re: Can we talk Christmas/Holiday Gifts?

I just looked through ToysRus website last night and made a wishlist for the kids, I'll send it to my parents and ILs, the bestsellers list and parents favorties lists are very helpful, we chose lots of educational items. We told the kids they could pick 10 presents each and then ask Santa for 1 special gift (we are going to surprise them with a trip!! We will leave a few days after christmas)

Nothing too big for Lauren, she will only be 7 months old.

I want to get one for Jake too. There is a place on Merrick Avenue right off the seford oyster Bay that sells all little tykes, step 2 stuff. I am going to check it out his week.

Let me tell you, the fact that he's a boy means absolutely nothing...honestly, Paul's preschool teacher told us at open house night that the kitchen set in the classroom is played with more by the boys in the class than the girls!Chat Icon I am sure Andrew will LOVE his kitchen set!!!

Michael will 4 months old by the time Xmas comes so I made a list of toys and books that I would like him to have. We are going to give the list to ILs. I know that my family is going to buy him clothes for the spring and give him money which we will put away for him. DH & I just brought him some items from Santa. Here is what we ordered.

When I was PG we had seen alot of wooden puzzles and blocks on sale and bought them. We will give them to Ryan for Christmas. I am not going nuts since his b-day is right after and he wont even remember it either. He will get enough presents from the grandparents anyway to fill his entire room!

Re: Can we talk Christmas/Holiday Gifts?

Luca will only be 2 months old, so DH and I will probably buy him very little. I know that my parents, in-laws and tons of aunts and uncles will buy him plenty of clothes and toys. I will buy him anything I find he needs after that. I'm sure DH and I will make a much bigger deal out of Chrstmas next year when he's a little older.

Re: Can we talk Christmas/Holiday Gifts?

Molly got her kitchen last year and LOVES it. It is a great toy and will last for many years. We also got her extra food/pots etc..

One suggest for those who have 18+ age children is a shopping cart. Molly got one at 2 years old and she still plays with it nearly every day.

This year Molly is getting The FP Digital camera and case, a train table, some Thomas Trains to go with her table (she LOVES playing trains), a Dora Memory game, Lucky Ducks game, a tinkerbell personalized sweatshirt, a princess nightgown, a mickey mouse club hooded towel. She also wants ice skates so I am getting those off ebay.

My parents got her the Dora Fairy Castle (that she has been asking for).
My mom get her Learning Thru Music Plus and a Pluto stuffed animal she really wants.

Her birthday is 11/25 so she gets gift overload this time of the year. She is getting (From various friends and family) the Diego Rescue Center, the Dora cash register, Mickey Mouse saves Christmas DVD, a toy box.
I know she also wants a Sit and Spin Dora which I told her Nana about.

Re: Can we talk Christmas/Holiday Gifts?

We are getting her toys that will go from 6 months to 18 months. I want to be able to put some stuff away and as she grows, be able to pull it out and not have to keep shopping all year for toys. Everyone in my family is buying her toys for different ages.
