What size shoe is your 2 year old wearing?
To get him through half of the winter, I originally bought him a 5.5, then I exchanged it for a 6.5 but now I think he needs an even bigger size.

She was a 6 at stride rite. I bought a 6.5 and 7.
She has been going up a 1/2 size (needing new shoes) about every 3-6 months.

What size is he now? Honestly, I'd just buy cheaper ones, and assume he's only going to get a few months out of them. DS is in a 10, and still goes up a size every 3 months, but he'd be tripping wearing an 11 right now.

My daughter is closer to 3 (turns 3 in Dec) and is a 7-7.5 now. She has small feet. I imagine that by the end of the winter, she will be an 8, maybe 8.5 if she's wearing thick socks.
My other daughter will be 2 in January and is a 6. I'm getting her 6s and 6.5s to last through the winter.

22 mos, size 7.5 or 8
ETA: the most I think you should go up is a half size. they are still learning to walk and run. bigger shoes will be more dangerous.
and if you need shoes, I have a few pairs I can send you in pretty decent shape size 6 and up. no cost and no worries.
I have a pair of waterproof work boots and I think are a 6.5. a pair of cute brown Stride Right boots that I think are either a 6 or 6.5 wide. and also at least one pair of sneakers about the same size. fm me.

he's in a 5 right now in shoes without socks.
I'd have him sized at Stride Rite wearing socks (whatever he'll wear during the winter). My thought it that he'll probably measure a 5.5, and they'll tell you to go up 1/2 size to 6, but I wouldn't go any larger than that or he'll have trouble walking. Take Ophelia up on her offer--no need to spend tons when they grow so quickly!

My 18 month old was sized as at just over size 6W at stride rite last month. We got him 6.5W for the fall.
However, we also got him a couple of sneakers from Childrens Place and those are size 6 and still big on him. In my experience, shoes at stores like Gap and TCP run bigger. So I'm hoping that TCP shoes he will be able to wear through the winter or at least part of it.

Take him to get his feet measured. It is so important for them to be in well fitting, supportive shoes.

At that age his feet with change size @ every 3 months. Unless you buy shoes a full size too big you're not going to get 6 months out of them. Personally, at that age I wouldn't buy shoes that big - it will interfere with walking.

Why don't you get him measured? I don't think other peoples' answers can really help, kwim? All kids' feet are different- and while most are probably similar at the same age that doesn't mean yours isn't different.
