A lot! BUT, in our defense, we live in a 4th floor walk up and the laundry room is in another part of the building, in the basement and you have to walk outside to get to it. SO, we make our towels earn their keep! Chat Icon If we had our own w/d, things would be different.

Re: Towel washing

To answer my question, I have two bath towels that I use for the week.

I'm asking b/c my mom is coming for a visit and I don't think I will have a dryer by then and I told her that she will have to use the towel more than once. I just don't have the space in my apartment to dry them. She thinks I am crazy.

ETA: one towel for my hair and one for my body for the week.

Honestly, it's a towel that dries you off at your most cleanest stage of cleanliness...how dirty can it be? Or is it the drying factor? She's just going to have to suck it up! Chat Icon

Re: Towel washing

If I stay at a friend's for a couple of nights I reuse the towel I was given. Usually hang it out to fully dry, but hey... it's clean and I just used it to dry myself off after a shower.

Now... if you asked how many times in college I used the same towel... I'm sure it'll be a few weeks or so Chat Icon Chat Icon

I have two towels that I use. I usually change them out every week but sometimes I may go an extra day or two.

Honestly, I only use them right after I shower, so how dirty can they get? I'm just drying off a clean body.

And one of the towels I use to dry my hair after it's been washed. So that one I'll keep for a little longer sometimes because the laundry just gets to be so much.

ITA, as long as you let it air dry properly on a rack, the towel should last for a long time, its only drying off a clean body

I guess we are in the minority- dh and I only change them once a week and they are perfectly fine- we hang them to dry daily and they never smell musty or anything like that

I completely agree. We use towels for at least a week before washing them, sometimes a little longer. And we sometimes take 2 showers a day between the barn and the gym...

I guess I am in the minority here but we only use our towels for one shower and then they get washed....my theory has always been I don't want to wipe my face with the part of my towel that dried something else yesterday!!

i will use a towel 2-4x. (Variation depends on if I was able to hang it up before the dog got to itChat Icon ).

When I lived at home and did not have to do the laundry myself I would only use it once, oh the naive daysChat Icon

Bath towel, a week.

Wash cloths get used once.

Hand towels tend to be washed more frequently (I find that they get nastier more quickly.)

usually just once or twice, but I see the point of using them more...I just feel like I'm always doing laundry that I throw the towels in while I'm doing it.

Re: Towel washing

Ok, after seeing the responses, I will admit that I'm usually not in any hurry to replace the towels. Its a waste of laundry detergent, water and energy to keep washing towels that are used to dry water off a clean body and hair. Besides, I'm too lazy to be washing 10+ towels a week (not including DH's towels).

If I accidentally leave them on the floor I will have to throw it in the wash, but if I remember to hang it right back up on the towel rack, I use them for a while.

I hope that doesn't seem gross.

I use them for at least a week. Never thought twice about it. I'm totally clean coming out of the shower so I figure that the towel is still very clean after I've used it.
