some info about beyonce's hospital stay
Does anyone else think the pedestal these two put themselves on is RIDICULOUS????
UPDATE: Beyoncé and Jay-Z name baby ‘Ivy Blue’
In the line of unique baby names (Apple, Willow and the like), Beyoncé and Jay-Z welcomed their baby girl last night and named her Ivy Blue Carter. (If you didn’t know Jay-Z’s real name is Shawn Carter.)
According to the New York Daily News, in an effort to keep images from leaking to the public, hospital workers placed tape over security cameras and forced employees to turn in cell phones when they arrive for their shifts. Beyoncé was admitted to the New York’s Lenox Hill hospital under the name, “Ingrid Jackson.” The couple allegedly rented out the hospital’s entire fourth floor for $1.3 million.
And apparently gave birth by C-section.
Congrats to the couple and welcome Ivy Blue.

My mom is in Lenox Hill Hospital right now and I was there @ 11 AM yesterday. Security was being a bit stricter than usual but I just thought maybe a supervisor was around or something. Now I know why!

Dh works at LH and for weeks they've had people working on securing & preparing a path for her to be unseen by the public.
Glad they had a healthy baby.

Parents will do what they need to protect
their baby and themselves. If they had the
$ and it does not cause any danger to
other patients then go for it. Privacy is a
big thing to ppl esp when they are giving
birth. Who wants camera's flashing and ppl
crowding hallways to get a peek at you or
your baby? Not me.

I don't think it's ridiculous. Considering some of the pictures we are able to see of celebrities....I'd have the entire hospital on lockdown also!

Stopping cell phones, yes. But security cameras? What happens if someone breaks into the hospital and then steals the baby? "Whoops, we covered all the security cameras?"
Could they even see that much detail in security camera footage that would make it worthwhile to sell? The baby probably looks like the size of a zucchini.

Also, they may sell these photos, so they could get millions of dollars for them.
Hopefully, they do what Angelina did and donate that to charity.
You can't blame them for trying to protect such a huge income source. Although its kind of a sad way to make money, its society that puts that huge price tag on these things, not the parents.
I also don't blame her for wanting privacy. I imagine there are some moments that she would not want broadcasted over the internet! And all it would take would be one nurse,housekeeper, security guard, etc. to snap a bag photo and they could get a ton of $$ for it.

I find it really gross that they would go to extremes of this kind to protect their potential income from baby photos. Who knows if they will, but I will definitely think differently of them if they do. Donating to charity is one thing, but I think thats doubtful. Beyonce and Jay Z don't need the money.

They are very private people, why is this surprising to anyone? They don't owe anything to anyone and I admire the way they protect their PRIVATE lives. It is refreshing compared to most celeb attention whores.

I would be so angry if I was delivering at that hospital and put in a room with a bunch of other people because all the rooms on Beyonces floor weren't allowed to be used. Hospitals are packed to begin with, imagine the mayhem this is causing closing off a whole floor? I can understand privacy but at the expensive of other patients...that's just really rude.

This I agree with. What if you were giving birth there on that day? You are suddenly chopped liver and not as important as another patient because she is a celeb and has boat loads of cash?
I'm sorry but it's wrong.
They want their privacy- yeah guess what? So did I after I gave birth. And I'm not rich or famous.
You chose this life- lack of privacy comes with the terriorty. You don't like it, you can get yourself out of the public eye and give up all the other perks of fame and fortune.
I am so freakin tired of the values in this society and the pedestal we put these celebs on. Like they are GODS.
Like they walk on water.
Personally I couldn't give a rat's azz about her or her baby or her husband or anything about her- or any celeb for that matter.
They don't give a shyt about us- why should we care about them?

true, and I'd be piissed if I worked there & somebody "forced" me to hand over my cell phone. How is that allowed?

Agreed. If I were a celebrity ( ) I would do everything in my power to keep such an intimate moment private.

Since your DH experienced this first hand, can you tell us how the staff felt about them being there? Was there a total uproar about them taking out a whole floor?
he saw no uproar from the staff meaning anger towards this. he said he just saw chaos in getting everything prepared & people were rushing to get everything ready. he was in on friday but not on sat & he's going in today. I wonder if they'll take his phones away today since he needs them to be paged on. She was suppossedly driven right into their private parking area & the gate closed down right behind the car & she was taken to a closed off private elevator near a trash dumpster (yuck-dh said is smells awful) & she had to walk past it to get to where the door was to her floor.

Thanks for sharing and giving us a point of view from someone that was actually there. Walking past a dumpster doesn't seem very VIP to me.
I'm just not sure why some people on here speculate about how terrible it must have been for everyone at the hospital because of Jay-Z and Beyonce are such "selfish" people.

I think its because these two hold themselves so high, like they're better than everyone else. The special celebrity treatment that the common person wouldn't get jus rubs people the wrong way. I don't think it's right that just because they are celebs and have money, they're entitled to have special treatment, especially at a hospital.
But then again...given all the fake pregnancy rumors, she'd have had to go to such extreme measures to protect the lie...so who knows?

EXACTLY!!!! Beyonce acts as if she is God, or at least, God's gift to us mortals. Also, is no one worried about the surrogate?? Has anyone asked how she is feeling after her C-Section???
