So it finally happened...
We had a great trip to Sedona and the Grand Canyon.
At lunch in a nice Mexican restaurant, I took Alex to change her in the ladies' room.
When I came back, the hostess said she was adorable and asked....if I was her grandmother....
This upset me so much. It alos took me by surprise. I suggested in the future she err the other way instead.

ETA: When we were on vacation in Hilton Head DH & I were out with my mom & Lily. The owner (an older man) kept calling my mom GrandPA. People are so dumb.

The weird thing is..she was an OLDER woman...I would say at least 60. Of course if she asked me I would have told her she looked 85!

my mom was 39 when she had me, my dad was 45. my sister was 13.
every single member of my family looks young for their age - and yet people did ask us, not infrequently, if my parents were my grandparents and if my sister was my mother ( HELLO - she was THIRTEEN and looked about TEN). the commemts were so ridiculous that we eventually just started laughing in the people's faces who asked us.
people are absolutely clueless. please don't let an ignorant, clearly visually impaired person get to you.

If it makes you feel any better at all - I was at the bagel store the other day and the woman said to me "Oh - he's so cute - and your pregnant again - that's so nice"
ETA: This woman should see what a grandmother really looks like - you look NOTHING like a grandmother. I'm all fired up right now!
