I just read an "open letter to miley cyrus from a mom" and it said something so true....that she is not yet grown up. It said (and Im paraphrasing) that when you need to try to prove so hard that you are grown up and have sex, by exploiting yourself, you are not grown up yet. When you stop trying to prove it, then we know you are truly grown up.

I don't think she's on drugs or crazy.
I wish she was.
It's worse.
She is under the control of a team of people thinking this is a good idea for her. Not caring about her long term image, but cashing in on the "Miley gone wild and crazy" image right now.
She has stated in many interviews that without her career, she is "nothing". Literally.
She has been groomed from a young age to be adored by the public and be famous at any cost.
Unlike Madonna, who was an adult when she achieved fame and was a savvy business woman in charge of her career decisions, Miley is not an empowered woman. She is so devoid of a self that if they told her she'd be dressed like an ape and throw her own shitt around, I think she would because THEY said to and without her career she is nothing.
My hope is when her shelf life is over she finds herself, carves out a dignified adulthood with her gajillions of dollars and doesn't continue this path. That's when the drugs will come.... If she feels like nothing when her career is really done.
I agree, very well said. I don't watch the VMA's, just watched the links posted on this thread. I watched the explicit blurred lines video, that is disgusting. How pathetic are those "ladies" in their 20's prancing around like naked idiots  those girls are worse off then "crazy" Miley. Thicke was def. in on it, they rehearse over and over. He gets to sit back and watch this girl get ripped apart now. The whole thing is just gross and disturbing. thank god I have boys. seriously.

I'm overseas now and the MTV here has edited out a lot of what I saw on the link !
They did not show her bum grinding him nor her face in the woman's bum
Also missing was half the antics with the foam hand
Because this is an official MTV channel I wonder by the editing if they expected this or is it just edited because of the region?!
Also- was that Miley's mother standing up and applauding after?

I think the she and the performance were nasty. Put the tongue away! And even worse she sounded horrible, maybe if she had done an awesome singing job I could look past some of the nastiness but it was just awful all around. And I don't know why she thinks tweaking is her thing it doesn't look like she does it very well she needs more booty for that

Yes, Im pretty sure it was. To me, that may have been the most disturbing part of all. Theres got to be something wrong with the mother if her first reaction was to give a standing ovation rather than being horrified upon seeing your daughter on stage degrading herself and acting like a pig.

My DH was the opposite, he thought she looked like a trashy skank and finds nothing attractive about her. That goes double for me. The whole butch haircut, running around sticking your tongue out, and jerking your body around like you're having a fit is neither attractive or feminine IMO. I'm shocked any guy, or girl, would've found her attractive in the least.
To each his own I guess.

Seriously. I would be mortified if my DD ever did that, I certainly would not be applauding her. And people wonder why child stars all turn into disasters as they "grow up"...........they have nobody around them looking out for their best interest.

Wow. I'm sorry, but the guys you know have zero taste. Every guy I spoke to, my DH included, was HORRIFIED by her. DH said she looked like a boy- she's got no curves, no ass, no boobs, no style, no voice... there's absolute zero sex appeal there, so I don't get it.

Honestly I think what separated her performance from other past scandalous performances was that she wasn't sexy. It wasn't just that the former Disney star is now shocking everyone by being sexy. It was that the former Disney star tried to be sexy but came off as nasty instead. She needs to put the tongue away and she needs a new style advisors.
I think what separates it is that she showed she's talentless.
When Britney did it, Britney's voice was eh but she could DANCE.
Miley can't dance. She can't sing, especially live. When you sing and dance in a performance, you lip sync mostly to a prerecorded track but they give you a mic. You are able to sing. She didn't even put in the training to build up the endurance to be able to sing after trying to dance.
The whole thing was 'I'm not talented, so I will shock instead.'
Lady Gaga, like her or not, was able to dance and sing during her performance. She puts in the work.

Yes like it or not Britney was a performer. No her voice was not great at all but the girl could move. She would dance and put on a GREAT show and her body in her prime was SICKKKK. She was sexy. When she stripped to I cant get no satisfaction it was amazing. When she walked around stage with a python wrapped around her again amazing. And sexy as hell never trashy. When she lost her mind she got a bit trashy and it didn't go over well.
Lady Gaga is talented so when shes walking around in a thong on stage dancing that (might I add insanely amazing ass that I would kill for LOL) she doesn't look trashy. She looks sexy as hell. Her body is also sick you can tell she takes care of herself. And she has choreographed moves.
Miley comes off as desperate and looks like a little girl who doesn't know what it means to be sexy... PERIOD... She still has a little girls body and shes just gone too far off the deep end.

Did you catch the premiere or encore?
From my understanding ..
Different countries have different standards and practices. In the US, nothing is truly live for the most part. There's usually a delay.. Seconds usually. People then watch the program and hit buttons to block out any curses. There also are camera shots (generic ones - like a crowd shot) that they switch to in case people get naked, for example. Its done before it even hits your TV. Sometimes things get missed but mostly it's caught in time. Re -airs are always edited for length, audio, and to remove bad stuff - like Taylor Swift mouthing "shut the F up".
So the country you viewed it in may have different standards and removed it all. Some countries air it all - curses, nudity, etc.
