didnt have a winter coat, used the Bundle Me --- it was SO warm!

DD was a fall baby so she was still quite small in the winter. Never had a problem with her being cold Chat Icon

Same for DS.

ETA: It made things very easy if we went in & out of stores. It's so warm in stores that we would just unzip...then zip it up when we were leaving again...never moving DS.

I never had a coat for joey last season, it was just the kiddopatomus (however you spell it!!) cover for the infant seat. I always dressed him "warmer", hat, a little sweatshirt jacket. when he was really tiny, I did use the one of the bunting thing, which both him and I HATED haha He would end up sweating in the damn thing.

This season, i'll have to get him a jacket since we are retiring the infant carrier this weekend

ETA- if you hate taking things on and off, you will hate the bunting thing then b/c that has to come off even if you just run into target b/c they'll get overheated in those things. (well, at least DS did)

I had something similar to this but from Lands End (doesn't look like they sell them this year) for both of my girls - it was great - not puffy, has fold over hands and feet so they could walk IF I needed them to - but they could have their hands and feet covered if I needed them to stay warm. Several companies make them - but here are two - they come in various colors/patterns (I had solid purple ones but I don't see a lot of them). Some don't have the fold over hands or feet depending on which one you go with:

I used this, it was about $20 in target... totally saved my life. It was the easiest thing ever... if it was really cold, I would put a blanket on under it.

Edited for spelling

Good question! I was wondering this myself. DD is teeny still so I was considering the bundle me, but I also need something when she gets into the convertible car seat too. I think I will look into the outfits posted on this thread!

I had this for DS who was an October baby and I am getting it again for DD (June baby). It's SO cozy and warm and IMO not too bulky. I primarily used this for the bjorn though and used the bundle me for the most part for DS but DD will probably outgrow the infant seat mid-winter and I'll probably have to use this more.

This is so cute but the reviews say this outfit runs very big. How was the sizing for your DC?

For an infant a winter coat is kind of a waist of money if you are going to be going in and out of the car bc they will always be in the infant carrier in the bundle me. Unless you are going to take them out holding them just dress them warm and then use the bundle mewith an extra blanket and hat when it is really cold.

Plus..you should not use a coat in the carseat,if is not safe!

I was wondering this also. Last winter Lucas used the bundleme in his infant seat but now he's not in his infant seat. We don't always get a close parking spot so we really need to get him a jacket or something. Do they make bundlemes for toddlers? If so, what do you do- use it in the stroller then take it out and put it in the car seat?

I have a toddler bundle me. NOt sure about when transitioning from stoller to car thoughChat Icon

They are recommending these days that you not use the bundle me which might be why she is asking about alternatives like non bulky coats- - I used it for DD#1 b.c I didn't know - but I was told with DD#2 not to use it as it isn't safe to use. We had that pouch that goes over the seat but DD really didn't care for it.

good question. i have a bundle me that i'm not sure we're going to use because i'm not sure how long into the winter DD will be in her infant seat.

that llbean outfit looks cute! i can see that being difficult when its warmer inside like a store or something. maybe i'll get a that carters coat that someone posted and just cover her with blankets.

sorry i am not any help christine!

Ok, I did hear that they say the Bundle Me's are not safe now.....I thought so (as I mentioned above) thanks for confirming LilyKat.

Like LilyKat said, I did not know coats and Bundle Me's were not safe when I had my son so I used them both at some point. Now that I know I am trying to find the best alternative. And I am being honest in saying I will not do the coat on coat off thing, I just wont. Its hard enough getting out of the house on time without coats. If I warm the car and put blankets over DD that could work, but i'm leaning towards one of the non-poofy alternatives the moms above have shared.

This goes over the carseat. Would something like this be safe? Anyone ever heard of it?

Just throwing this out there as a BTDT mom...just get something for the carseat. I bought DS two different coats/buntings and used neither. They are in the carseat when they are outside(for 30 seconds) and it's too hot inside to keep them in anything. So the carseat cover is the best option....I used a bundleme cuz i already had one, but my friend had the kidopotamus thing that goes on the outside and i think that's a much better idea.

I had a bundle me for DS, he was younger (bornlate July)DD was born early April so I think she may be to long for the bundle me. Plus, ithought iheard those ae not safe either because. You shouldn't put anything between the straps and the child. I could be wrong on that though.

How did you get your DC to keep theblankets on. DD kicks her feet around like crazy in the car seat.

I had newborns in the winter. I tucked the blanket in really tight, almost like a swaddle, they could not kick them off.

I had a few of those one piece zip-ups from Carters also. They both cried getting into them so I barely used them. They would be great for an older infant though.

I *think* I'm going to get one of the fleece one piece coverall things. I don't think the Bundle me will be good for Caroline since she is so long. Plus they say those are not safe. Ugh! I don't know, I guess the flatter style fleece ones are the safest. WithRyan I needed something on his upper body in the bundle me anyway....what did you decide?
