Oh I think he'll go down... blaming everyone under the sun when he does. I give it a year.

Eventually he'll go down, but not before dragging them all down with him. We all know what the mafia does to rats like him, and politicians aren't anything but legalized mafia. Should be interesting, he'll be chirping for sure... Or rather tweeting lol. I say grab the popcorn and find a comfy seat. Chat Icon

I think he will serve his full term. It is difficult (as it should be) to impeach a president. We have never had an impeached president removed from office. Both Andrew Jackson and Bill Clinton were acquitted after a senate trial.

Re: How long do you think Trump will be president?

This is the country that voted for GW Bush twice... and he wasn't our first hot mess.

Ahem.
Bad presidents are as American as apple pie

Plus, the Dems need to (1) remember their roots as the working man's party and make themselves more appealing to middle America and (2) find some better candidates. But they won't. So I think Trump will be with us for 8 years.

Agreed. I think our only hope for the party is Keith Ellison for Chair.

Do you think we might get an actual Republican that runs against him in a primary for 2020? He really isn't a GOP fan and vice-versa. Could be interesting to say the least.

I honestly think he will end up there the full four years.

I never thought he would be elected, and here we are.

Same. Although I hope he doesn't last the full term.

Ditto. I wasn't even worried on election day. I merrily cast my vote and went to bed. DH couldn't believe I wasn't staying up to watch. I thought it was in the bag. I woke up at 1:30 and put on the TV and burst into tears. Literal tears. I never imagined this would happen. I even said how excited I was for my daughter to wake up in America with the first female president. And here we are.

I think he'll go the full 4 years. Not because he's qualified or that he'll surprise us and do an okay job, but that Congress is so slow moving that nothing will happen before then. Also, he's been so above reproach so far, I don't see that turning around any time soon.

He's like 70 and it won't take long before he starts fcuking up everything. Plus, he has the attention span of a toddler, he's going to tire of this gig before his 4 years are even up. NO chance he'll be around for 8 years.

Absolutely and his ego is far too fragile to handle criticism of that magnitude. He can't even handle SNL making fun of him!

I agree with this.

I agree. He'd obviously never step down as he is too much of an egomaniac.

I do think he wanted to win, but I don't think he thought much about the responsibilities.

I pray that it is only four years but after that election who knows

I don't think most people love him, I do think many people HATED HRC so this was the choice they were left with and they are tolerating him more than anything.

Democrats now have a GOLDEN opportunity to prep for the next election, if Trumps presidency becomes a huge sh!t show, the Democrats can clean up in 2020. Hopefully they don't screw that up!

However, I have to say, I find it horrifying that people all over my FB feed, on both sides of the Trump fence seem to have forgotten that there is a presidential election every 4 YEARS ........NOT 8 - and that the last three presidents had 8 year terms because they won re-elections! I'm shocked at the number of people assuming there is an 8 year term.

According to the polls I've been seeing (we all know how accurate polls are, though... Chat Icon ), it looks like Trump has the lowest approval rating ever for an incoming president.

http://www.politico.com/story/2017/01/trump-low-approval-rating-transition-233678

In both the CNN/ORC and ABC News/Washington Post polls, majorities of Americans view Trump unfavorably — and also disapprove of the way in which Trump has built his incoming administration.

The CNN/ORC poll shows 53 percent of Americans view Trump unfavorably, while only 44 percent have a favorable opinion of the incoming president. In the ABC News/Washington Post poll, Trump’s favorable rating is just 40 percent, with 54 percent having unfavorable opinion.

That, according to the Washington Post, makes Trump the least-popular incoming president of the past 40 years — by a long shot. Eight years ago, ABC News/Washington Post polling showed Barack Obama with a 79-percent favorable rating. Even George W. Bush — who lost the popular vote and was only designated the next president after a protracted recount in Florida — had a 62-percent favorable rating on the eve of his inauguration. Bush’s 36-percent unfavorable rating was the lowest of the modern era, until Trump’s 54-percent score in the new poll.

Americans also have negative perceptions of the Trump transition. Both surveys show only four-in-10 Americans approve of the way Trump is handling the transition. In the CNN/ORC poll, 52 percent disapprove of Trump’s transition, and 54 percent disapprove of Trump’s handling of the transition in the ABC News/Washington Post poll.

It’s a huge contrast from just eight years ago, when pre-inauguration CNN/ORC and ABC News/Washington Post polls pegged Obama’s approval rating at 84 percent and 80 percent, respectively.
...

It doesn't mean that his approval rating won't change, just that he's starting off his tenure at historic lows, so he has a lot of work ahead of him if he wants to get his approval rating up. His ego needs to have his approval rating high, so hopefully his narcissism and ego will override his previous rhetoric that got him elected.

I have been following News & Guts on FB, Dan Rather founded this media co and they really think this Trump/Russia/$$ story is not going away. So it makes me wonder if either he'll have to resign, or they will find something so egregious that even Republicans will want to impeach. TBH I think most of them really want Pence anyway.

Only 17 of 45 Presidents have been reelected for at least a 2nd term. This is only the 2nd time in our history that we've had 3 consecutive two-term Presidents. Presidents 3-5 (Jefferson, Madison, Monroe) were the last time that happened.

Most people only think the world exist within their lifetime, so based on that, EVERY president (in their lifetime) has had 2 terms, so that must be the standard....

Do they really think that? Or are they assuming he will be voted in again?
I have this one guy on my feed who is insanely Pro Trump. Like Trump could murder a child on camera and he'd be like- who cares? He is the best thing on the planet! Chat Icon
And he constantly comments on stories about Trump saying- the next 8 years will be great, or he will ignore these losers for 8 years... etc.
But in his case, it's him being arrogant and assuming he will be re-elected in 4 years.

Do people really think it's an 8 year term- for real??
That is mind boggling.

I pray every day that it won't be long.

I don't understand how anyone is ok with anything that is going on. He has proven himself to be a completely unstable liar. How does anyone actually think he is looking out for the best interests of his country is beyond me.

How long do you think Trump will be president?

He is far too narcissistic to ever resign. The GOP coven has probably already met to plan his impeachment, they probably started working on their plan when he won the primaries. He thinks he is above the law, so he will not do what is necessary to ensure an ethical, conflict free presidency and that will be his demise.

And, not that I wish this on him or anyone else, but I think an assassination attempt is likely in the first year. There are a lot of pissed off crackpots on both sides of the aisle...
