Halloween - how are you going to display your candy?
I've put together indivdual candy baggies for trick or treaters and plan on putting them out on my front step. How are you planning to arrange them? I don't want to use my pumpkin and was thinking maybe of using trays but I'm not sure.

Handing out as normal.
I would just be careful if you won't be around to watch the kids, the bowl or tray might be taken. Don't use something that is worth much.

lol, in all seriousness, if I was giving out candy I would get a tray from the dollar store and arrange it so it’s easy for kids to grab the bags. They cancelled it in my building so we are going to enjoy the fruits of my sisters community.

Handing them out as always.
Don't leave anything too good outside because it will get stolen.
Just put them in like a throw away aluminum pan or something or a dollar store plastic bowl.
Also be aware that there are a lot of little shitts out there who will dump your whole stash into their bag and run so don't expect it to last if you aren't there to supervise.

Neither DH nor I will be home all day on Halloween. I made baggies of candy and bought a tray from the dollar store. I'll just leave it on the steps.

Any common container where everyone is putting their hands in, often digging through looking for the "good" candy, is concerning to some, for fear of spreading Covid-19 through common surface contact.
I have an 8' PVC pipe painted black and orange that we'll slide the candy down. Keeps social distancing, and it's something fun. We'll be home all day, so we can do that.

On local Facebook pages they were saying that candy shouldn't be put into something you need to reach into. It's a huge pumpkin with a big opening....

Oh. I would just sanitize hands regularly, but.... yeah. Basic hygiene and common sense seems to be out the window this year so.....
Just imagine if everyone had thought this way about spreading germs and cleanliness before all this. Think of all the strep, colds, flu and stomach bugs we would have avoided.

I made individual bags for while we are home and not trick or treating ourselves. My kids live for Halloween - they have been so good through everything this year, I will just wipe down the candy and not let them get close to anyone who isn't masked.
I don't think surface transmission is a huge issue so I think we'll be ok.

I'm doing chocolate in a Halloween themed large bowl. Used it every year and never been stolen. It's all mostly the same chocolates so common sense is not to dig through the bowl. Also I'm sure parents will be using hand sanitizer walking around. No matter what kids touch everything.
I think I got the bowl from the Dollar Store so not worried about it. I plan on putting it on a small table with a sign that says please take one. I'm sure they'll take more, but it just says we are not home. We'll be trick or treating anyway and I'll have hand sanitizer for the boys between each house. THey have masks with their costumes.

The homes in my neighborhood sent out a flier and from 5 to 7 we are all setting up decorated tables. I made up bags of candy and will space them out on the table.

I am using a folding table with goodie bags spaced out. It will be between the street and my door. Hopefully, as I see them come up from the street, I will count the kids and put that many out on the table. Maybe I will put a bunch out and see if that becomes a problem. I'm sure I will be changing it up as the day goes on.

I wasn’t going to participate, but after a post I made & readings everyone’s replies, I decided to do it this Way in hopes to participate in a covid conscious way

I have a long driveway and also don't get many TOT's. But because its a Saturday; I may get a few.
I will place a chair in my driveway with a bowl of candy. If they steal it; they steal it; but I doubt it will happen TBH.
My dog will go nuts if someone comes to the door and I will probably be in my yard raking leaves. FUN!

We won't be home so I'm leaving bags out. I'm just worried about animals (furry ones, not poorly behaved children). We're overrun with squirrels, grounhogs, woodchucks.

Yep. If I don't stand at the door and remind my daughter to go wash her hands when she gets off the bus, she just wont. She has zero cares in the world.
A few weeks ago I was on a work call when she got home and I find her in the kitchen hands deep in her snacks and I asked if she washed her hands. Of course she hadn't
So I am quite sure what is going on at school and when I'm not looking is far worse than touching a snickers bar from a communal bowl.

Our immune systems have evolved over thousands of years. 12 months of good hygiene is not going to negatively affect them.
My 6 year old is now religious about washing his hands when getting home from anywhere. How is this a bad thing?

We hope not but do you notice that regular soap and body wash has not flown off the shelves? People are not as clean as they claim to be just because they bought hand soap and sanitizer in bulk.

Exactly! My son is slob and a pandemic surely hasn’t changed him.  
Unless you’re still wiping everything down that you bring in or washing your hands after every item you touch, trick or treating is not that much of a difference. I would think you this would be the safest event. Pretty much 90% of the kids costumes are wearing masks or gloves.
