Sounds like a staff shortage at these places.

It’s pretty bold. They are two of the largest employers. I imagine it will set a trend for other big companies.

It's hard enough to find workers right now.
Good luck...beggars shouldn't be choosers.

I am getting concerned about the delta variant now...

Same. Especially with how contagious it is. I’m worried about the children. I know they are supposedly a hearty bunch in fighting covid but with Delta now in the mix, who knows.

Too much uncertainty all around.

Will this change how you go about your daily life?

I have actually started wear masks ng my mask again.

Yes ones that were approved and not emergency ones. How many breakthrough cases did they have?

And those vaccine worked a lot better.
I never heard of a bunch of breakthrough polio cases.
They need to perfect this vaccine. It's still too soon.
And much like the flu, this isn't going away like polio

I dont think not wearing a mask or not having to quarantine is a good enough reason to get it (and isnt true anymore anyway). I can appreciate that it may lessen the symptoms of covid. But that does not mean, as people like to say, that an unvaccinated person who gets covid will automatically be put on a ventilator and die. Many many many people have had covid without the vaccine that was mild or totally asymptomatic.

My concerns relate to the safety of the shot itself. First it was totally safe and effective. Then it may cause blood clots in rare cases. Then it may cause myocarditis. Then it may cause GB. Yes, all rare and I get that the idea is to sacrifice some people to save most people. My point is that they either KNEW these were potential harms and hid it from us OR they did NOT know which means there will probably be more side effects coming. I do not trust it yet, plain and simple. This is completely different technology than other vaccines so I dont want to hear about polio and smallpox.

If I choose to wait, I do not expect anyone to wear a mask to protect me or my children. I hate masks, but if they want to mandate them in stores and schools to make people happy, go ahead. It will not stop the tons of private maskless gatherings that will happen every day and night. Covid is forever and anyone who thinks we will eradicate it is wrong.

I think you are wrong about them hiding potential harms. The risk of blood clots from J&J was extremely low and not necessarily related, but they pulled it right away to be safe. I do not think there is some ulterior motive here for governmental usurpation of rights. I truly think scientists and government officials want to mitigate death and injury. Of course there are profits to be made, but fundamentally I think the public's best interest is paramount.

We live in such a skeptical society, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but at some point if too few people take a leap of faith then the potential longterm benefits of vaccination will be far less than it could have been. Humans will be the cause of their own extinction (maybe not because of COVID, lol, but at some point we will sabotage ourselves).

Thank you for your well thought out response and for not getting nasty.

I guess I just do not believe the government actually cares about our health at all. Never has. If they did then they would not give free shots but allow life saving drugs to be unaffordable to those who need them. They would not applaud giving free donuts to people who get the shot when so many who have died have been overweight. They would not have told us to stay in our houses for months instead of getting outside to breathe fresh air and absorb sunshine. Not once have they promoted a healthy lifestyle to help mitigate the risks. Just shots and masks and isolation.

The only reason i see for the vaccine only to prevent you from possibly being hospitalized apparently, however thats not 100% either. My friend is a nurse and sees vaccinated hospitalized.

So that is the only reason. Not because of the kids, because apparently just because your vaccinated you can still be a carrier and give it to them anyway. And there has yet been evidence that kids are dropping like flies. So this year Delta, next year Lambda, year after that Omega and so forth...

So the best method to prevent not getting covid is hiding in a bunker somewhere for the next 10-20 years and wake up to a government controlled world.

Well it wasn't too long ago that I have seen other posters say that it was extremely RARE for a vaccinated person to be a carrier AND pass it along to someone else.....so which is it? It seems like as time goes on we are hearing more and more stories of vaccinated actually being the carrier or is it just media playing it up?

This vaccine as it is now solves nothing. Maybe a better one will be made in years to come. And masking is just a bandaid over a cut that needs stitches.

Re: Explain why we should all be getting vaccinated?

Polio hasn’t been eradicated. It still exists in parts of the world (I only know this because I was revaccinated for that when I visited an area where it is there).

The mRNA is a different technology and it isn’t new and it has been used before.

One of the first polio vaccines released caused an outbreak because they injected live viruses instead of inactivated viruses.

I’m not sure how effective mRNA is, but it seems to show a reduction in hospitalizations and death. I’ll take that and I’ll wear my mask.

If you don’t want the vaccine, then fine. But wear a mask at least. It’s the people that are going around not wearing masks and are not vaccinated I find entitled. Masks are still mandated and after 6 months of lockdown, I don’t want to go back to it. I’m glad the masks are still mandated here.

“Because of widespread vaccination, polio was eliminated from the Western Hemisphere in 1994. In 2016, it continues to circulate in just Afghanistan and Pakistan, with occasional spread to neighboring countries. Vigorous vaccination programs are being conducted to eliminate these last pockets. Polio vaccination is still recommended worldwide because of the risk of imported cases.

In the United States, children are recommended to receive the inactivated polio vaccine at 2 months and 4 months of age, and then twice more before entering elementary school.”

How much of a lockdown is Germany in as I see my family out and about all the time?

I wonder how many of these masked, vaccinated people are getting sick.

Wow, do you remember the ‘please stop’ person years ago? That was so funny.

It does sound like a bot. Bad bot.

But sigh, I’ll answer. I said “After six months of lockdown, I do not want to go back.” Nowhere does it say we are STILL in lockdown.

Only two diseases have been eradicated: Small pox and Rinderpest. It was recommended by my doctor that I get my polio vaccine updated because there was an outbreak (at that time) in Angola, and I was going to be in northern Namibia.

Eliminate and eradicate have different meanings.
