It's nice to see you back. I've enjoyed your commentary on this cluster$*$#& of a thread. So I don't appear a hypocrite you were not my cup of tea back then but I hope you are allowed to stay.
I remember the sperm thing- it will go down in LIF history for sure. If my memory is correct I also believe Ron was the person who arranged the contractors, etc, to do the work on the house. That in itself is a huge thing- I know many of us have done work in our homes and making those arrangement is quite the chore. Never thought of threatening a lawsuit as a means of showing gratitude- that was new info for me.

By the way, Janet told me in a FM that she had a hysterectomy. So why would she need money for his sperm if it was physically impossible to have kids.

For the record, it was her "friend" that posted for it, not Janet. Janet did come on & ask for the thread to be pulled. But I recall the post had an urgent message about needing the money within a few hours. It was posted under Janet's name, though

When he died, the house was in horrible shape (like condemn-able from what I heard). She had a leak in the roof that was never fixed, inches of water in the basement & a serious mold problem that made the house unlivable. That's outside of the other issues I heard secondhand that the house had (animal feces all over, etc)

Same here. I will however stand by not taking low blows about family etc.
But I have a better understanding why people are up in arms. I think its hard knowing one was taken repeatedly. I pity people who take advantage of the kindness of strangers/friends-my intial reaction is anger then pity because there will come a time when there will truely be a need and like the boy who cried wolf no one will come.

god bless all of you for trying to help this woman. after doing my research last night (i posted this last night as well) what i found was this community of women and men who bent over backwards time and time again with love, money, physical labor, etc. you all were so very kind to her. So be wronged like that is awful! you guys are very special women. it's a shame now that people are afraid to help others because of this, and others are afraid to ask for it. between the sperm situation, the tickets, the contests, all very bizarre behavior, but also sounds very manipulative, especially to make up a facebook of her dead husband to win a contest i would think that would be bad juju or something!!! awful!! i you all for doing everything you did, and am really sorry that you became the victims in this.

And for those who still wonder.... look at all the posters on those old links, willing to volunteer, help her, donate, worried and praying for her and her family from those original threads. Genuine worry!
And now you will see those same posters 6 years later singing a new tone! Janet has disappointed so many posters. Those same people who helped her, prayed for her, donated their time and money to her.
Its hard to understand the whole story unless you were there from the beginning.
And maybe posters don't start with a full background history before they start calling someone out. There is no warning when "enough is enough" and someone just start lashing out. Only at some point within a thread will the whole story uncover itself. Not the first time! Look at the recent drama with other posters.
LIF is not just a regular internet chat forum. Those are women AND men who met IRL. There are material connections/emotional connections. Getting married same year, PG together, Playdates with kids, going to each other's houses, etc... This is VERY personal! Hence why those blow out are not just "bullying" but unleashing of pain, disappointment, tired of lies, stealing from others, etc...
Janet is not the only one who took advantage. But she made sure to ruin it for a lot of people when it comes to trust!

I'll be honest no one asked. It was only 6 mos after she lost her DH that we went over there to do the demo. She kept saying the roof collapsed and then Keith died & everything spiraled out of control. It was clear thought that the smell was from animal mess (I have a bunch of dogs myself, and that smell is hard to reproduce any other way), and that it was just plain neglected. I think at the time, seeing the house was so shocking to us that we did not dare ask anything, we just ripped it apart to make it go away.

What were you guys trying to do? You said knock down wood? Were you throwing out stuff? building stuff? Also, how do you throw out crap that you dont know if it is important to the homeowner? This sounds like a contaminated mess.
