DeVos update
 I just got through to Senator Schumer's office! They're checking to see when the floor vote will be. Senator Cornyn's office never got back to me, and for dayyysssssssssss no one is there to answer your call.

The two party system is a part of the problem. Democrats have opposed every one of Trumps choices. De Vos is horrible. I wish other senators realized people are angry because she's a bad choice and not because she was Trump's pick.

I have little doubt that every single US senator heard form constituents, both R and D, who felt she was not qualified. I know people who are staunch Republicans and Trump voters who didn't want to see her confirmed. It's small consolation but I would not be surprised if many senators who went for her find their seats in jeopardy.

How can they put this woman through????? We elect these individuals to represent and act in the best interest of the citizens and this is what we get from them??? How dare they put their own interests ahead of EVERY SINGLE child in America!!! I literally want to throw up!!!!
I can't even look at the news anymore. I feel like EVERY day is just more upset, chaos, and stupidity. Trump is without a doubt the WORST thing EVER unleashed on this country. I want off this crazy train!!!!!!

This is the one that puts me over the edge with the Republicans. I get voting along party lines, etc, but this is such a grossly egregious case of ineptitude on a subject with such huge consequences. I live and breathe IDEA and can't imagine how the Pubs putting her through sleep at night.

Not all democrats have opposed all of his picks. There are a few who have voted yes to all but are thankfully saying no to devos.

I went on a fax spree today as well. Faxzero.com let's you send 5 free a day and inputs any senator's fax number in there for you. Super easy and I will be sending more tomorrow.

I typed up a letter, not formal, but a few paragraphs stating my concerns and I've used that for each fax.

You can attach pictures so I sent pictures of DD2 and a note saying that these were pictures of my daughter who will be impacted negatively, like millions of other kids, if she's confirmed.

Someone wrote a version of this on LI Opt Out Info on FB. I expanded/changed it a little and added a salutation:
Did you know 85% of American kids attend public schools? Did you also know Betsy DeVos wants to dismantle our public school system? She is in favor of "firing more teachers” and going to an "open system marketplace" of "providers" including charter schools, online schools, virtual schools and expanding technologies such as Khan Academy and cloud-based learning, leading to large profits for the 1%. And deficits for our children, especially our vulnerable special needs population.
Any SENATOR who does NOT vote against Betsy DeVos is AGAINST public education.
Period.
You have the opportunity to be a hero by voting against Betsy DeVos’s confirmation. Set her views aside, and the lack of knowledge she displayed in her hearings should disqualify her. She displayed less knowledge than a first-year education major. This is a rare non-partisan issue- parents on both sides of the aisle are greatly concerned about the potential for damage she represents. President Trump can find a better candidate. Please don’t contribute to the destruction of our public schools.
Please don’t choose greed over our children.

Just saw in a special needs parent group on FB that I'm in ,that a NC senator is undecided on his vote for DeVos:
DeVos Update: North Carolina's Thom Tillis's office says he's undecided and wants to hear from NC consituents.

Yes I saw a list on FB of all the local districts who's Board of Ed's sent letters against her.
Mine was on there as were SO many others on LI.
But I just keep feeling like it doesn't even matter because they will put this assh0le through regardless. It's so disheartening.

I am in NC and Tillis stated last Thursday that he was voting yes on DeVos. I still called/emailed, but honestly it doesn't seem like any of these Senators care what their constituents say. I don't know a single person down here on either side of politics that wants DeVos.
