DD's christening was at Blackwells Restaurant in wading river. I think it was about $40pp and we ran a tab for the alcohol. We also had passed appetizers, which was included in the price. Food was great and its right over looking a golf course

I will start. DD #1's Christening was at the VFW hall in Massapequa by the train station in 2008. Room rental was $275 I think and unlimited beer wine and soda was $8 pp. Children under three were free and under 21 were $3 pp. We brought in all of our own food.
Do you have pics of the room...just wondering what it looks like...

Sorry I don't have any of the room. I think my Uncle got some, I can ask him. It is very simple. Room rental is now $375.

Wanted to add the place we just had DD #2's Christening. Hartigan manor in Bethpage it is a KOC that has their own caterer and servers. The hall is huge, they say they can hold 200 but I think that may be a bit tight more like 150 or so.
Cost is $25 pp for adults and kids 7 and over. Kids 5-7 are half price and kids under 5 are free.
It includes:
A buffet with seven entrees of your choice for a list of over 60. Bread, choice of salad, occasion cake, tea and coffee.
Beer and Wine for those over 21 is $8 pp if you want to add it.
They have a house DJ who has a ton of stuff for the kids and a very impressive setup including flatscreen TVs. He charges $350 or you can bring in your own.
The party was awesome, food was great, kids and adults loved the DJ and service was awesome.
You take home whatever food does not get served. We had 7 full sized catering trays to take home and half a cake. I could have a second party with all the food.

we just had our son's christening at the American Legion in Wantagh.
they were great, party was a success!
$450 for the rental
over 100 people can fit.
you have to provide everything like plates, napkins, coffee.. etc.
we had 80 people , it was $700 to cater the food.
got a DJ which was a big hit.

I believe it is $700 for the hall and you receive $100 back after the party if everything is cleaned up, etc...

We had DS' at Carnival Restaurant in Port Jefferson Station. Prices are on their website. We wound up have a bar bill instead of paying p/p extra fee. We bought carafes of wine for the tables also. it worked out MUCH cheaper this way. $200ish (as opposed to the $700 it would have cost us).
If you are just looking for a hall and bringing own food, you can try Bohemia Rec Center.

I used the Norwegian Hall in St. James, it's OK, I wouldnt highly recommend it just b/c of the set up. Kitchen is downstairs, great room upstairs, bar downstairs.
I've used the Hibernian Hall in Babylon for both of my older ones 1st birthdays. I really liked it there...huge room, newly done and cheap. It was like $300 or so to rent, then $13 for full bar p/p. Their house caterer charges $9 p.p or it might be $11 now. All in all, not too bad
I did the last christening at my house. The cost of the tent, chairs and tables alone was $675. It was the most expensive party we've had for the kids yet.
eta we also had a jazz quartet at the house party that was awesome. college aged kids, but they did a great job. FM if you need info

I would describe it as in between type place. It's nicer than most of the VFW type places where you just rent the space but not as nice as the souped up ones where you use their catering.

Ronkonkoma rec center AKA ronkonkoma pavilion. $600 down but $200 back after party as long as the room is cleaned up, so in all its $400. You have to bring in ur own food decor and entertainment. Theres a kitchen and the room holds 100ppl.

We just booked La Famiglia in Smithtown for August. It's 28pp. There is a $200 cash deposit and we are running a tab for alcohol.

Riveria in Massapequa- 65 people full bar small cocktail hour- 3 course dinner and dessert bar with cake 50 per person. outside deck on the water with umbrellas etc.

Main Street FH in East Rockaway- 300 dollars for 5 hours (FD rate) Normally 600 dollars. Includes bartenders and unlimited soda. Parking on site. Holds over 100 people. A/C for the summer. Kitchen is available. The caterer we used charged less the 400 dollars for 50 people and included 4-5 large trays of food, salad, condiments, rolls, cutlery, plates, napkins...

For eastern Suffolk folks:
Ladakins on Mill Pond in Moriches.
We are doing a buffet for $30.05 pp. Has a few room choices, we opted for larger room and and to guarantee 40 (talked him down from 50).
Includes soda. We will run a bar tab. Includes a cake but you can bring in our own cake (had to promise it was from a legit bakery).
Large room can accommodate a DJ.
