Adult food at kid party- update
I know this has been asked often but help me out. I'm guessing somewhere close 20 adults (not more than that). 8 of those are family and will be coming back to my house afterward for more food. How many pizzas would you do for the adults. Is 2 not enough? I feel like it's pretty skimpy but I also think if I order 3 I'll be bringing a whole one home.
Forgot to update. I ordered 4 pies and they had 2 for the kids. We left with two almost full pies which was a lot but fine. On the way home they called us and said they forgot to give us the two pies that were still in the back! By then we were almost home and had company already at the house waiting for us so we said just keep them.

2 pies is only 16 slices.
You have to have at least one slice for each just in case everyone takes one.
3 pies for sure

This. You need at least 3 pies. You can freeze leftover pizza or set it out when people come back to your house.

Uggh. I think I was I denial and writing this post I know I need 3. I know I'm going to end up with a ton of extra and a ton of extra food from the after party but it is what it is. Someday I will figure out the small, inexpensive party thing but so far I have not. Lol.

I HATE having to serve adult food at a kids party. I really really really do not like it. It ends up being so expensive and a cost I would rather use for something else at the party. Anyway, I digress, I think you need at least 3 pies.

At least 3 pies. I'd personally order 4. For the extra $20, it's worth it to have enough, rather than leave people wanting more. Also, sometimes the kids want extras and will dig into the adult pies. Worst case you bring home a pie or send it home with someone. I always err on the side of having too much.
Also, the people going back to your house will likely still eat at the party. They may not assume you're serving food twice.

I would probably do 4 to be safe for those that take more than one slice. I recently was at a kids bday party and they had 5 or 6 pies plus a tray of salad for the adults and all the food flew!

I love having some leftovers after a party so I don't have to worry about cooking later or the next day!

Depends on the age of the kid in my experience.
The older the kids, the less likely the parents will eat. Before then, the parents treat it like an event and do eat.
From K on, parents almost never ate/drank... so now we order an extra 2 pizzas and a salad. We always have leftovers! We get soda/seltzer cans so that we could use left overs.

I'll order three and hopefully no one starves over the course of the 2 hour party.
My other issue is it's at a frozen yogurt place. Kids get unlimited and adults get 20%off. I wouldn't think twice about letting adults purchase their own if it was all classmates parents (well I probably would but I think I'd leave it alone) but aside from 2-3 classmates it's all family and very close friends. I planned to give the cashier a $100 visa gc and telling them to use that to cover adults and of course let me know if it runs out bc we'd cover whatever. Does that sound okay or does anyone have other suggestions. I'll also bring a tray of cookies to put out.

3 minimum. I would do 4. It also depends on the time of the party. If it's from 4-6 or so, that pretty much spans most people's dinner time. If it's from 3-5, you'll need a lot less, since some people will wait to eat dinner until after the party.
We always got extra pizza because we like having extra pizza in the house after the party... 
I thought adults ate more as the kids got older. Most of the parents have been to all the same kids' parties for years, and they are comfortable around each other, so they don't feel bad eating in front of people they know fairly well.

I'd do 4 pies but I'm always worried about running out of food. In my experience, everyone always eats, but that just may be our crowd since it's always family and friends. In fact we're having 48 adults and 12 kids and we're getting 8 pies and a 6 ft. hero along with some sides and apps.

Ah, if it's a frozen yogurt place then I don't think you need so much pizza because people will eat the yogurt. 3 pies is plenty.
I would probably just ask the cashier to keep a tally of the adult's purchases and pay at the end. I'm sure you wouldn't be the first to pay for all the parents. I'd figure it would run slightly over $100, which is why I wouldn't confuse it with a GC.
I also think you can skip the cookies. Covering the yogurt is enough.

3 minimally but I would probably do 4 cause I tend to over order. How many pies are being ordered for kids? If you think there will be left over from that then i would be more comfortable with 3

I guess it’s less the age but more the transition from family and friends parties (where people will stick around and have the party be their daily entertainment because they know the parents well) to a school party (where many kids have siblings and it becomes a drop off or short side trip for one kid/parent). Even if a parent stays, I find they have lunch or dinner plans that involve their other kids or their spouse. My K’er has only a handful of adults staying at parties. My 2nd grader pretty much only goes to drop off parties.

Agreed with pp. It's only two hours and I think the froyo will be the draw. I'd still do 3, and ask the place to run a tab for the adults.

Whenever I'm feeding a group of adults for the sake of entertaining their kids, I go with the lesser amount of pies and have the pizzeria cut them into 12 slices instead of 8 or better yet get smaller cut sicilian. The adults are generally eating just for the sake of being social, and it's less awkward to stand around with a full sized slice in your hand.
