My kid will not eat regular food!

Since I am literally STUCK in the house..I am in a posting mood. Sorry for all the ramblings and questions!

But I think my kid is going to be eating baby food until shes 90. She will not eat anything else. She HATES different textures and gags on anything lumpy. Its driving me insane. I see all your kids eat and I try with her and she hates it!

I just tried pastina again, after stopping for about 2 months. She didnt like it with butter and cheese the first time..so this time I tried a little sauce. No go!!!!!!! Gagging, spittting...ugh!

So hopefully the kids in highschool wont make fun of her when shes eating her pureed bananas and carrots!

Did you try Puffs? I gave DDs them to pick up and I think they liked the experience and it got them to eat something lumpier than they were used to. I feel like the Puffs is what got them to eat foods on their own (feeding it to themselves) and to eat lumpier foods. Good luck!

Try feeding her with another child around the same age who IS eating those foods. The mere jealousy might be enough!

Oh, I thought the same thing too!! My son was a baby food lover, anything I tried he'd clamp his mouth shut! Finally, one day he just decided he'd eat table food, just like that...he was 13 months old!

She LOVES teething cookies.

I second the being around other babies.. When I try new things with DD sometimes I get a little resistance.. But at daycare? She's entirely different - I joke that its the peer pressure, but I definitely think it helps her be more adventurous seeing other babies eating other foods!

I tried pastina a few times, they hated it. I tired to make a pastina baked ziti kind of thing. I even loved it, well they were gagging and throwing up. I decided not to do pastina again. I don't think they liked the texture (sandy) they were coughing on it. I tried regular whole wheat pasta much better.
I did a transition slowly with the table foods. I took a jar of food and added a few pieces of banana and gradually worked it up until very chunky and little baby food. For lunch they still get yogurt, nothing chunky, but breakfast and dinner are chunky and pieces of food meals.
The Puffs they are just starting to stop gagging on. Today was the first day they actually put them in their mouths. Good Luck keep trying. Be patient.

My daughter was a gagger too. It took a long time for her to really go to full table food. Pasta was her first big table food and peas. She loved peas until she ate so many one time that she vomitted. Avacado became the obsession of last summer and then meat balls. After meat balls most table foods were good except steak she will not eat that at all .

Noreen, Im the choking phobic nut. so when Luciano gagged with pastina, mommy had a panic attack over a simple little gag over pastina

so what I did was I mixed a spoonful of pastina into a jar of food, this way it wasnt an overwhelming amount of this foreign stuff in his mouth.

and now he's used to many textures and chews very well (almost as if he's saying SEE MOMMY IM CHEWING LOOK!), moves the food with his tongue, toward his gums.

it takes getting used to, and she's not past any age of baby food.

One gag, and I am done! Its so scary!!!!!!! And she gags ALL THE TIME! I guess I gotta keep trying. Hopefully she wont be going to school with gerber jars in her lunch box!
