My DH was born at 27 weeks in 1979. He was less than 2 lbs too. He is now a healthy man and has had no medical problems due to his prematurity. Everything will be ok

This is soooo sad...I'm soo sorry for your friend....I'm in tears over here especially when I read the part of her holding the baby until the baby took the last breath......
Tons of  for your friend and for you....just be there for her. She will probably need all the love and support she can get.

Im very sorry to hear of your friends devestating loss.
I lost a child to pre term birth as well and know the heartache she is about to endure all too well.
