Tick bite

So I think I just pulled a tick off my arm.
I have never had a tick on me ever and I'm freaking out a bit.
I had been walking in the back part of my yard, talking on the phone with my boss, and it's a little wooded there, but I wasn't climbing through bushes or anything- I was on the lawn. And it wasn't like my foot of leg- it was on the inside of my arm, which is odd.

So it was literally on me for 5 minutes tops before I noticed something on my arm, tried to wipe whatever it was off and panicked when it wouldn't budge and ran inside and pulled it straight out with a tweezer.

It's gone and I washed the area well, and put some Polysporin on it.

Do I need to worry? Omg I'm so grossed out and freaked out.

My DD had one a few years ago that the school nurse removed and it was nothing, but I'm just panicking now

You really don't need to do anything. You can call your doctor and you might be put on a antibiotics for it. More then likely, you will be okay.

Re: Tick bite

Thanks. I read online that it is very unlikely to get anything if it's been on you for that short a time.
And when it happened to DD the ped didn't even want to see her or put her on anything- they said just watch for a bullseye rash. And nothing happened

It just freaked me out- so gross!

There’s a lab that you can send them to for free that will test them. They are researching ticks. They are so unsettling, I know.

Re: Tick bite

They’re working on rewriting guidelines for Lyme and tick borne diseases. One of the things they’re changing is the amount of hours where bacteria can be transmitted. The old belief was 48 hours or something like that and now they’re thinking it can happen in as soon as 10 min. They’re also saying that when a tick bites, it doesn’t instantly means a person will get Lyme or any of the other diseases. Probabilities go up the more time the tick stays embedded, if it’s engorged, if the tick has multiple bacteria responsable for disease like Lyme, Babesiosis, etc, how robust ur immune system is at the moment, among other things. Since it seems that the tick had just embedded itself and u removed it immediately, I wouldn’t worry. Did the head come out as well? DS2 got a tick when we went to six flags out of all the places! It embedded itself but it was not engorged, and it left a tiny red dot that I kept monitoring like a hawk! We were so nervous that didn’t even think of keeping it but I did check the head came out when my husband removed it. We think it must have bit him within a few hours only. A friend recommended me a really good doctor who’s very knowledgeable with tick borne diseases (let me know if u’d like his name and number), and he didn’t think it was necessary to put him on antibiotics based on our situation. He did recommend being proactive and boost his immune system before waiting for any symptoms to manifest. He recommended 4Life Transfer Factor and agreed I should continue giving him high dosis of Vit C, Vit D, Vit A, Ledum Palustre, Andrographis, and Astragalus which I had already started giving him before my appointment with him. He also wanted him to have a specific blood work after 4 weeks and then again after 8 weeks. Supposedly regular blood works don’t tend to pick up on Lyme so it needs to be a specific one. Like I said before, I wouldn’t worry because it seemed the tick was embedded for so little time but maybe u can boost ur immune system just in case?

Re: Tick bite

Call your doctor. Save the tick. You can privately have it sent away to be tested. In a few weeks ask for a blood test for lyme, erlichiosis, babesia, and lone star. Also see how you feel about red meat.

Yes, it wasn't engorged and it was on me for maybe 5 min or so when I saw it. I can barely find any mark now so that's good.
But I will definitely boost my supplements. I'm a big fan of immune supplements since I used to get sick all the time and now when I feel anything coming on or am exposed to anything I up my supplements and never get sick
So yeah, I'll be extra vigilant the next few days.
Thank you for all this info!

You are fine. Watch for a bullseye. I’ve had many ticks on me. So gross but since it was removed so quickly I would not worry.

A tick usually has to be embedded for 24 hours to pass on disease. Anything less than that is extremely rare. Being it was 5 minutes, I'm sure you are fine.

I hate ticks. I get bit all the time too b/c my yard is also woodsy.

And yes, as many times as I have been bit; it's such a gross feeling every time. You feel skeeved out invaded. I have a horrible reaction to them though. Whether they're on me for 5 minutes or an hour, once I pull them out; I disinfect the area immediately with Hibaclens and alcohol. Then the area No JOke itches for months; 100x worse than a mosquite bite.

Ugh that's awful. You must be allergic to something in their saliva or something.
Thankfully I don't even see the spot anymore so hopefully it's done and over.
But yeah, just knowing they spread disease makes it so unsettling to find one on you!

U’re welcome! I’m the same way about supplements. FYI look into taking Astragalus daily as prevention during tick season, if a bite already happened, up the dose. Also look into Andrographis, besides taking it orally, if a tick has already bit u, u can also apply some tincture on the bite area as soon as u remove the tick, add bentonite clay and a couple of drops to make it a bit pasty, cover the area with gauze or something like that for 24 hrs.

I never heard of Andrographis. I am definitely buying this stuff. The Clay I have and I didnt know that was another thing to do with a tick bite. Wow, very interesting. Do you know how much of a dose to take for the Andrographis during tick season? TY!
