Double yolked eggs
Has anyone had this? I had it once a few years ago. Then this week I have had 4 double yolked eggs. Last time I had this happen the whole carton was double yolked.

It never use to happen, but now there are always a few in every carton when I buy the extra large eggs. I always wonder if it has to do with the hormones they load the chickens up with, but I've never looked into it 
I've never gotten one in a package of organic eggs.

once or twice in my entire life. A whole carton full is strange, but maybe if they sort them by weight all the double yolks ended up together. I also wonder if it is a hormone thing.
ETA- according to this, it happens with young chickens and is more common is certain breeds. it's actually less common in commercial eggs, because they take them out. Maybe in Germany they don't do that.

Every once in a while I get double yolked eggs, and sometimes a whole carton.
I buy free range eggs from Stew Leonards.
Has nothing to do with hormones or what the hens (called pullets) are feed, it is just twin chicks. Happens more frequently in young pullets that are just beginning to lay eggs (that's why you may get a whole carton of double yolks) and in certain breeds.

Double yolked eggs
I had one recently for the first time in my life. I was so surprised I took a picture of it.  Silly question but do you guys eat them? I was skeeved so i cooked it for my dog!

I was making scrambled eggs one morning a few weeks back and wasn't paying attention as I cracked the egg. I looked down and there were 2 yolks in the bowl! It startled me! LOL
I had another egg ready to crack, so I put it away.
2 for the price of 1!
I did google it though to make sure it was ok to eat. It skeeved me a bit too, but once i read it was fine, I just scrambled it up with my cheese and ate it!

Oh, it’s fine to eat. I’ll crack open the other two to use tomorrow for breakfast. It left me feeling really full (2x the protein!).

I've had them in my very young backyard free range chickens. No horomes over here lol. They are over a year now and I haven't seen it in a while.

I know! Three in a row! I have one more left in the carton (got a six pack). Let’s see what tomorrow brings! To be fair, they are very filling and you get a lot for your money in that case.

The rest of your carton will probably have double yolks.
It’s such a nice surprise. Let’s see if I can have the last egg with a double.
