How old for Disney?

My DS will be 4 in the spring and we were thinking about bringing him then (May). He just took his first plane trip and it was relatively successful. Is 4 a good age or do you think we’re better off waiting until 5. I’m a teacher and am planning on taking 3 personal days so we’ll only be there for 5 days total if that makes a difference.

Is this something you will only do once?
If once, wait a little.

We do the opposite: we go OFTEN for a day or two. We tack a day at Disney on to other trips. It DOES take effort and “waste” time and money, but we’ve gone so many times. We have gone with kids as young as 1.5 and I think the amazement starts at 2...

2-3, they believe everything is ACTUALLY real. DD thought she was going to DIE on jungle cruise. DS actually flipped when he met Mickey.
4, Princess and Knight/pirate age in this family. Dress them up! Meet the characters.
5, they get it is pretend but like to play along. We did bippity boppity and it was a total highlight. Boys were digging it too!
6-7, they get interested in how they make it work... like how the special effects work. They like characters, but they know they aren’t real for sure.
8 and up, they like the excitement rides like roller coasters

I love to see the magic through the youngest ages (it goes fast!), but my in laws only wanted to go once and have the kids remember it. They went later.

We took our DD for the first time when she was 4.5 and it was perfect. We’re going again soon and she’ll be 6.5.

4 is a great age! We just went in September. Our girls were 2 and 4.

Is this a once in a lifetime trip? Do you plan on going back in a couple of years?

Is he into Star Wars? Star Wars land is opening in 2019 if you’d want to want for that.

5 days would be great. Enough time for a couple of days at MK, AK and HS even Epcot.

We’ll probably go back in a couple of years. I went every year growing up, but never went anywhere else.

we've been going every year for the past few years. and our best trip so far was when DS was 4. (he's 7 now) he was just SO SO into the whole thing! old enough to "hang for the long days at the parks ( we don't usually take breaks at the hotel during the day), and still young enough to be into the characters and all that. Plus, big enough to ride most of the rides. So-- i say definitely take him- 4/5 is the perfect age!!!

I think 4 is a great age! My dh was very much against taking our girls when they were young so we waited until they were 5 & 7. Once we were there dh said we could have totally done this when they were small. Disney is made for all ages. Just rent a stroller because it is a lot of walking other than that a 4 year old will love Disney.

We are going in September. DS turns 4 in May. I am also a teacher but my contract doesn't have personal days (that would be AWESOME if it did though). I am going during Rosh hashonah. We also will have a 10 year old. We have never been but are in a position that we can go this year so I am taking it! I think it will be great! My boys are on the taller side, so that will help with rides!

We can take 3 consecutive personal days, no questions asked. I’m just wondering if im rushing things trying to go this spring. My options are pretty much this spring, next fall, or next spring. I don’t want to go inthe summer. I don’t do well in extreme heat and humidity.

My son is 90th percentile so I think he’ll be ok for the rides he’d want to do.

We took both kids around the same age, 2. They had a great time and loved every minute. I think under 2 is a waste. I know they are free at that age but it’s a lot of work.

Do it! If you love it... do it again. Budget is the only real constraint and if you fly down in an off week, you will save $$$. A few days is all that you need.

Just to give you a heads up...It's VERY hot at disney on September...and even Oct. This past end of Sep it was about 95 each day when we were there

We went this past September during the Jewish holidays and it was 95+ most days. It was soo hot and incredibly humid. I would try the spring if you want to avoid extreme heat.

Yup, that is around when we were there. We went after our cruise.

We have been several times in Oct, and it's still really hot then too. We find February to be perfect weather there. Not hot, not freezing.

4 years old is a perfect age! We took ds for the first time at the end of August/beginning of September in 2017 and he loved it. It was insanely hot, between 95-100 some days. October is slightly better and the crowds tend to be less that month as well.

We just went. My kids are 6, 2 and 1. I was surprised at how much my 2 little ones got out of it since they are so little.

IMO, my 6 year old was the perfect age. He was star struck by all the characters. He was able to go on almost all of the rides, even the thrill rides. I think he could only not go on the rock n roller coaster and some other ride in AK in the dinosaur section. He absolutely loved it.

I think if this is going to be your only trip with him, wait until 5 and he grows a little taller.

How old for Disney?

Our first trip to Disney was for DD's 4th birthday. She had a great time, but doesn't remember the trip at all.
