only adenoid removal? 2 1/2 yr old

Has anyones child had their adenoids taken out and just their adenoids?

The ENT is recommending that my 2 1/2 year old get it done.

Now my older son had it done when he was 5, but he had all 3 done at once (tubes, adenoids and tonsils). His recovery was amazing. But he was also 5.

I'm waiting for a call back, but what is the recovery like just for the adenoids?

Also wondering if the tonsils should be taken out at the same time or will we have to get those out in 2 years? I really don't want to do this more than once.

Anyone have any experiences they want to share?

My son had both out at that age. Not sure about recovery for just adenoids but both was rough for a week. One thing you might want to look into is that I read that adenoids can come back. So getting surgery wouldn't necessarily fix the issue.

DS2 also had both removed at 2.5 and recovery was rough. I would think the recovery would probably be much smoother with just the adenoids being removed.

My DD will be 2 in July and just had her adenoids removed this past Friday with a new set of ear tubes. Her first set was put in when she was 10 months.

As for recovery, she is yet not back to her old self but it was not bad from what I see out of her. They never mentioned getting the tonsils removed.
