Essentials for the first 6 Weeks
I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but could the BTDT moms on here please list what are the must have essentials for the first few weeks of being home with the baby?
DH and I live out of state and will not be having a baby shower. We are planning on having a baptism/baby shower/meet the baby celebration a few weeks after baby is born, and my family and friends have said they wanted to know our registry information, so I'm assuming we will be getting some things at that point.
So far we have purchased the following:
Travel System Rock N Play Swing Boppy (the lounger kind) Bottles Bottle Warmer Diapers Wipes Bottle drying rack Receiving blankets Wash Clothes Clothes Swaddles Sleep Sacks Infant Bath Tub Pacifiers Diaper bag
We still need to pick up the diaper genie, diaper cream & bath soaps/lotions, but is there anything else we would need for the first few weeks?
Thank you!

I would get a white noise machine. The marpac dohm one is great.
Do you plan on wearing your baby? If so a baby carrier.
A monitor
Edit. I'd also have gas drops and gripe water in the house. Mommy bliss is great.

Re: Essentials for the first 6 Weeks
Honestly, the only essentials are: 1. a place for baby to sleep... I used a pack n play with a newborn napper for the first 2 months 2. Some clothes 3. Baby detergent to wash the clothes 4. A thermometer and some meds in case baby has a fever 5. A car seat (hospital will not release you without one)
Everything else is extra... Don't buy too match of something (wipes, diapers, bottles, clothes) because you never know what size your baby will be and what they will tolerate

I agree with everything above. The white noise machine is a lifesaver. Do you plan to breastfeed? If so, then breast pads for leaking, lanolin cream for sore nipples, possibly a breast pump depending on if you will be returning to work soon after baby is born.

Looks good! Maybe pick up one of those infant grooming kits, with hair brush, nail clipper/file, etc.

Essentials for the first 6 Weeks
i've heard that there is this thing called the windi made by the people who made the snot sucker and it's really great at relieving gas. I would get that, because when DD was a newborn we used gas drops all the time and they didn't really work
