How much to pay
Neighbor who is picking up your child every day after school. Her kids are in the same middle school and they live RIGHT next door. My DC has the key and will let herself into our apartment.
Assuming i wil pay her weekly. She said I don't have to but i want to give something

Re: How much to pay
I've been doing this for my neighbor for I think 2 years or so, I will even keep her kids when its a half day and she can't get home for a few hours.. I have never expected anything in return, and I would never take money, bc truly it's not an inconvenience, unless our kids didn't get along or something. I think if you truly wanted to do something, maybe pick up a coffee for her or a gift card for takeout etc, but certainly not weekly, maybe every month or every other month. I think it's really sweet of you to even think of!

How much to pay
$25 a week? I don't know...I mean she isn't really babysitting her, just giving her a ride home

How much to pay
Agree with pp. I'd buy a nice gift card to show appreciation maybe for dinner or gas.

How much to pay
its ok for people to do thing for other and not get paid for it. I would thank her, maybe once in a while buy her a GC for coffee but leave it.
Sometimes for my job i have to be in the field. I work with someone who does not drive, no car not even a license. She takes public transportation to those meetings. I always offer to drive her back to the office so she does not have to take the bus. Last week she offered to buy me lunch. I declined and thanked her for the offer. I told her I had to drive back with or without her.

Re: How much to pay
I feel like $15-$20 a week to help with the cost of gas would be perfect.

Re: How much to pay
Since she said don't worry about paying her maybe just a generous gift card for something such as gas or a place you know she goes at the end of the school year and holiday time.

Re: How much to pay
Our neighbor drives my son to school to help out - we gave her a nice gc for the holidays and will give her a little appreciation at the end of the school year. I don't think you need to pay for the ride home

Exactly what I was going to say.

This is what I would do.

Re: How much to pay
If it's just driving her then I think $20 a week for gas is fine.

How much to pay
I would probably give her a gift card for a tank of gas each month.

I would get her something like a gift certificate for going out or coffee or something and do it periodically maybe something different each time.
I personally i think if I were the neighbor, Id feel pretty awkward receiving $20 a week. I'd view this as I'm doing you a favor, I'm not looking for money and having an actual cash for services type of arrangement it kind of cheapens it.

Re: How much to pay
I'd give her gifts/gift cards as a thank you every so often (probably every few weeks)... I think I'd feel weird giving cash. Or maybe there's something you can do regularly for her/her child to help her out??? That way it's like you're doing something nice for each other and it's less "business transaction" if you know what I mean.

How much to pay
giving a gift is nice, but the other person might feel odd accepting one every week or month. As nice as the idea is, its important IMO to remember how the other person might feel.

Re: How much to pay
I do exactly this for someone except they live a few blocks away. I would feel uncomfortable if they handed me money or gc every week.
She does nice things for me every once in awhile. Helps me out in return when possible. For Christmas gave me a GC and a bottle of wine. I don't expect anything.
