Has Anyone's Child Ever Taken Tamiflu Before?
My poor little girl went from having Pneumonia a few weeks ago to now being diagnosed with the Flu(my husband and I both have it). The Dr said because and only because she just had the Pneumonia will she need to take Tamiflu but I'm a freaking wreck about it after reading the VERY scary side effects that can happen, especially in children. She just took her first dose 4 hours ago and so far so good, but I'm SOOOO worried!
Has anyone had to give it to their child?
Thanks

Has Anyone's Child Ever Taken Tamiflu Before?
It made my son very ill, throwing up within fifteen minutes after each dose. The vomiting was worse than the flu, so we had to discontinue it. My daughter took it with no issue though.

Yes my DD just took it cause she had the flu and my DS I gave it to him to prevent the flu.
DD had no effects. My DS threw up from it once. But he also refused to take it after the first dose. I had to shove it in there and he spit most of it out

When DD had flu last year we asked about it but our ped doesn't prescribe it anymore due to side effects.
DH took it and it did absolutely nothing for his symptoms. Nothing. It's garbage and a waste of money

Re: Has Anyone's Child Ever Taken Tamiflu Before?
Let me add some advice- get some Elderberry Syrup stat. Start giving it to her every 4 hours. That will work better than the Tamiflu.
I took it with flu- got better in a few days, symptoms were milder
DH took the Tamiflu right in the window he was supposed to and was sick for over a week and was on his death bed.

My daughter took it when she had teh flu and other than vomitting once (not sure if that was from flu or the tamiflu) she had no side effects. She had milder flu sysmptoms but not sure if that was bc she had had the vaccine. My other daughter took a few doses but i stopped bothering to give tt o her after a couple of days bc she gave me a hard time taking it-- she also had milder symptoms also had flu shot-- so hard to tell what effect if any TAmiflu had.

Has Anyone's Child Ever Taken Tamiflu Before?
My kids have taken it previously with no side effects. Someone always gets the flu every year. However, my kids had the flu a few weeks ago and my 6 year old dd was the 1st to get diagnosed. She started tamiflu and she had hallucinations from it. It didn't relieve her symptoms at all. After her twin brother and my youngest got the flu i didn't even brother giving them tamiflu.

Can I ask what your symptoms were with the flu? My DD has had a fever for the past 24 hours - on and off - 103 down to 100...she is whiney and feeling tired with no appetite. Flu symptoms or virus?

Re: Has Anyone's Child Ever Taken Tamiflu Before?
My son had hallucinations. He was 3 at the time and I remember him yelling for me and was looking out the window telling me something is there. He was talking to something. He was calm but freaked me out. I put the gate by the steps in case and shut the bathroom door. Never gave him another dose again and eventually got better. It's not guaranteed. My doctor said it may lesson the duration by a day or two. Wasn't worth the risk of any side effects.
Once I stopped giving it to him he was fine and never had another hallucination again. That was 2 years ago.

Same for my DD. We stopped and got rid of it.

Yes elderberry! Every 3-4 hours. My fever never broke 100 when I had he flu. I didn't give tamiflu to my daughter. My friends ped had told her it can cause hallucinations in children. We stuck w elderberry and were fine.
