When your child is getting pro photos taken...
are you involved? meaning, are you trying to get them to smile, get their attention?
Or do you sit back and let them do the work?
I wonder how photographers feel about this..kinda thinking I might be getting in the way. I wonder what everyone else does. Just curious!

I was absolutely involved as was DH. DS does not smile for someone he doesn't know. It takes a lot for him to feel comfortable around a stranger so if we wanted pics with a smile, we had to do every trick in the book behind the scenes, including running back and forth like a maniac bc he thought it was funny. Michelle McFadden just did our 1 yr/cake smash picsl he did sort of smile at her at times but he's tough. She did his pics at 8 months too and he was serious the whole time, neither DH, grandma, grandpa nor I could get him to smile that time.
I'm pretty sure she was ok with this.

Like the PP said... I do anything to get him to laugh, look up, look away, smile, laugh, etc.

Absolutely involved!!!!! IMO you totally need to be!! I think it helps your DC feel more comfortable also!

I've tried both but I follow my kids' cues. Still, I call my DD1 "The Evader" with Summer!!!
