Does anyone live in the Wilmington, NC area?
DH and I are considering relocating in a few years to the barrier islands in the area. I was looking at Carolina Beach and I was curious if anyone lives around there or has vacationed in the area and could tell me about it.

Does anyone live in the Wilmington, NC area?
I thought about it briefly b/c we lived in Durham and really liked it, but we only went to Wilmington once 7 years ago. It was nice, but it definitely saw better times. A lot of the tourist stuff on the beach were closed and mainly contained to the "hot spots". Hopefully things have gotten better since we've been.

Does anyone live in the Wilmington, NC area?
We have vacationed there MANY times...we've done Topsail, Carolina, Kure, and Holden Beach. IMO, Carolina Beach is starting to look a little run down. My best friend just moved to the Hampstead/Surf City area and they absolutely LOVE it there!!!!!! If you have any specific questions, feel free to message me.

DH has a friend from college that lives in the area. I believe she lived in Holden Beach and once she had a baby she moved to Leland. More inland, not on the beach but they seem to be happy there. They had a brand new house built, looks really nice.

Does anyone live in the Wilmington, NC area?
I have vacationed in Carolina Beach 2x. I liked it. It was July both times and was never crazy crowed like the Outer Banks.
Not sure I would want to live there full time as the off season is probably very quiet.

My in-laws moved to Leland about 6 months ago. They love it. They live in a beautiful development and are building a brand new custom built home for a quarter of what homes sell for on Long Island.
