I know LI is largely republican, but I am really shocked at how many people on here are supporting Trump. Especially since this site is 99% women.
YUP! I was JUST thinking the SAME thing when I saw the numbers!
Me three! I always find this board goes very liberal.
Maybe because people (women or men) who make a decent living realize how much their taxes will SKYROCKET under Sanders.

I don't know how anybody can vote for Sanders knowing this. It's insane.
EXACTLY! ITA! I don't understand how anyone can be ok with this..
This is the reason why I would vote for anyone Republican if Sanders wins the Democratic nomination.
Mainly because everyone who has heard any candidate make promises over the last several decades realizes, there are "campaign promises" and there is reality. Sanders cannot possibly raise taxes that much, Trump can't possibly build the wall and have Mexico pay for it. Ted Cruz cannot abolish the IRS by 2019. Clinton cannot end anti-LGBT discrimination completely "at home and abroad." Trump has made promises to increase spending in a lot of areas, rebuilding bridges and infrastructure, policing Muslim neighborhoods, deporting 11 million Mexicans, increase the military, and do all of that while magically cutting taxes tremendously. Math much, Donald?.... I honestly think taxes would increase much more than anything Sanders has in mind if Donald is able to implement a lot of what he is "promising", but his tax increases won't actually help the middle class.
I take everything that every politician says with a grain of salt. Almost none of the big plans that are promised during their campaign ever get implemented. Congress and the public are able to check-and-balance (or outright stop) a lot of activity. I look at what direction the candidate is pointing when they aim for the stars.
From my point of view, Sanders is aiming at helping the Middle Class and below. Trump is aiming at helping himself, and his rich cronies, at the expense of the rest of the country. Neither one will get to their goal, but they will try and make tiny steps in that direction.
The candidates just have their talking points to rile up their base and polarize the voters.
Yes! Most members of congress are rich. Many are millionaires. There is no way they are going to allow Bernie to enact the tax increases he is talking about. I don't agree with the degree to which Bernie wants to increase taxes and I don't think many of his objectives (free college) are doable. However, I do like him, and I think it would be nice to have a few more politicians in power who aren't in the pocket of the Koch brothers, Wall Street and/or other big business.
This!!! Especially that last sentence. This is a big reason why Bernie has my vote. It's time to end the hold that the asshole Koch brothers have on this government!!
