I would be interested! I don't know if any though! I would be interested in a general infertility group- we just found out we are also dealing with MFI so any support group is better than none at this point!

I have been dealing with 4 years of infertility from PCOS. If there are enough people or even if you wanted to get together I would love to have a group that we could get together and just talk these things out together.

I've been looking for support groups for myself and coming up empty. Maybe we can get one going ourselves!

Here is a list of support groups I just received from a therapist who specializes in infertility. Unfortunately, she does not take my insurance so that stinks.

I have made a few calls and looks like the places that do offer support groups charge about $30-$60 per group weekly. I don't know about you ladies but I can't afford that!! I just got off the phone with a therapist I found through RESOLVE who would only go down to $25 a week. Still can't afford since we ran out of money just trying to pay for infertility treatments. I have reached out to RESOLVE to see about a peer group starting as I noticed they are looking for host for Mineola. I will let you ladies know what I find out!

For those on the east coast I just spoke to the Director of Resolve and she mentioned there may be a peer group for infertility starting in the Deer Park area. This is rather far for me still. I might try and host one in the Mineola area if any feels this would be helpful for travel purpose.

Re: Infertility Support Group

Just FYI if you go through RESOLVE, you have to hold the meetings in a public place. I know some people are uncomfortable with that and prefer to be somewhere more private.
We used to just do get togethers on here. Sometimes at a restaurant but sometimes at people's houses.
As for PCOS if anyone has any specific questions, feel free to FM me. I have very severe/classic PCOS and I was able to conceive after 4.5 years with a lot of self research and self advocacy...there is a lot more to it than just not ovulating.

You are correct in that they are held in a public place. But depending on the host they can try to get a place with a private room such as in the library or hospital.

I work in a library in suffolk county and would be happy to see about hosting here one evening.. Also, most Panera's have community rooms in the back, it's a suggestion..

We used to have GTG's which were really fun and it would be potluck. Had one at my house actually. It was great to have everyone be able to just hang out for a couple of hours and just talk in private.

Yes.

The GTGS were a big part of all of this.

I met so many people who "understood".

Definitely try to put one together.

It can be public place, we used to meet at Chilis, or applebees, etc. Or someones house if anyone is comfortable with that.

This group used to be super active and I guess thankfully a lot of us were blessed to have kids. I wish it were active again and then again I dont want it to be because that means more women are struggling.

I became friendly with ladies on here that I met while I struggled.

Infertility Support Group *UPDATE*

I went to a get together at a restaurant on Route 110 with a bunch of the ladies on here. That was over a year and a half ago and I feel like after that the get togethers didn't happen much after that. Its nice to be with people who get it. Since it was at a restaurant and busy it was more like hanging out we didn't really talk about IF issues much.
