Received present for one child!

..and none for the other! My boss is pretty forgetful and kind of all over the place - I am her assistant so basically I keep her in check :) She is very sweet and kind and sent my DS a gift from amazon for christmas but she hasn't sent my DD anything .I know it was not intentional - she probably left it to do it later as she was thinking of what to get her but now its slipped her mind!!

So my dilemma is do I not give the gift to DS or give it to him but buy something from my boss myself and give it to DD? I cannot give it to my DS only as DD would be very :(.

Re: Received present for one child!

I would go to your boss and say, "I got your one present for DS from Amazon. He's going to love it!", and see if she makes a comment about DD. Even if she ordered two things from Amazon at the same time, doesn't mean they will be delivered together. (Giving her the benefit of the doubt...)

I would also say something like oh, I got your gift for my son, thank you he will be thrilled... blah... and see if she says anything about your daughter. are you sure it was just for your son though and not a combined gift for both? sometimes people do send siblings say one box of legos and assume both children will share it.

Ditto. Or maybe they shipped separately? I wouldn't fish too much though. And I'd probably buy a back up gift to give DD just in case.

It may be in 2 packages. I am hearing a lot of people sending gifts and it's being sent in different packages. It also depends on the sellers.

I ordered a bunch of stuff from target and it all shipped out separately. I had like 5 different deliveries from UPS from just one order.

Re: Received present for one child!

I was an EA for many, many years and I have multiple children and I would absolutely not say anything other than a sincere thank you for the one gift received. No coy "by the way" statements or anything like that. It was very sweet of your boss to remember your son and get anything. She is not obliged to recall that you have more than one child and is not obliged to buy anything at all for any your children. I would just say thank you and leave it at that.

Eta - this is more in response to the subsequent posters' suggestions, not your original question :)

It's very generous your boss sent anything. If it were me, I'd just thank my boss and move on. Will your daughter really know that your boss bought your son a gift and not her? Do your children even know your boss?

Assuming you celebrate Christmas, can't you just put it under the tree (or whatever) and add it to the other gifts? I'm assuming your children have plenty of other gifts and one for more your son than your daughter won't even be noticed. Unless I'm missing something...

I would just Thank your boss for the gift you received. Put the gift under the tree to open Christmas morning. The kids won't know who that gift came from, I would chalk it up to Santa ran out of wrapping paper and had to use a new design if they can read labels, or would even notice.
