What age can you start it to boost immune system and do you use it daily or only when they start to get sick?

I mostly use this when I see they are starting to get sick. Once in a while I will use it for precautionary reasons - like if they have a birthday coming up, I will give it to them for a week prior just in case.

Moms who use elderberry
I was giving it to DS daily but I recently read a few different things where it said it should NOT be given to children on a daily basis. So now I will give it when I start to see signs of them getting sick.

My 5 year old takes it daily & once he gets sick then he gets up to 4 doses a day
My youngest who's 4 gets it every other day bc he fights me & then up when he's sick
