DWTS

I'm surprised there was no thread

I haven't watched all season but watched the last two episodes. I'm really happy for Maks, and him and Meryl were amazing and need to date BUT, she is a professional ice dancer of course she was good I kind of think it was unfair she had an advantage from the beginning
Part of me wanted Amy Purdy to win, now she was amazing

Re: DWTS

Last night was the only one I missed.

I just loved Derek and Amy. Even though she didn't win, I'm so proud if her. She's an inspiration.

I'm happy for Maks and Meryl. I hope they get married and live happily ever after. Chat Icon

Re: DWTS

Maks looked soooo happy when they won, it was adorable. I wanted James & Peta to win but I'm happy Meryl & Maks did... although she looked like a pro half the time.

Re: DWTS

I watched last night's loooooong episode and was sooooo happy M &M won! They certainly deserved it! This is about who looked best on that floor and they certainly did!

Ice skating and ballroom dancing is not quite the same, so while Maryl did have an edge over a few others, she certainly was not entirely in her element. She also worked very hard and did some VERY difficult routines that no other start would ever be able to accomplish. And she brought out the very best in Max!

It's also a popularity contest more than anything else, and that is why Candace Cameron and Amy Purdy needed in a finale.

Amy is certainly an inspiration, and I am sure as a professional athlete she had an edge over anyone else who would end up on her circumstances. However, much like she only competes in Special Olympics, not in regular one, she should not have been in this dance competition. If you noticed, she was doing very little dancing. Most of her dances were choreographed in a way that she either remained stationary or was carried by her partner. She also never got critiqued on the same level as the rest of the dancers.

So, unless the name of the program was "Carrying stars around the dance floor", she was not in a position to get that trophy.

She competed in the Paralympics, not Special Olympics - very different.
Several of the dances don't allow lifts so she had to have danced quite a bit. She did get lifted a lot when allowed, but I mean, come on, it's Dancing With the Stars, it's a TV show, not some serious competition, why should she not "compete"?

I agree. I watched Amy throughout the season. She def danced and did not "Lift" her way through the competition.

I seriously can't believe you said should shouldn't be allowed to be in the competition. She was better than most in the competition and she did is with no legs.

I said the same thing week after week! I thought she was fantastic! Derek can seriously teach anyone how to dance.

I have to say, that although ice dancing and regular dancing are not the same, they do have the same basic foundation and Meryl (and Charlie and the guy from Big Time Rush for that matter) all had an edge over the competition. Meryl looked like a pro on almost every episode. How can someone like Candace with zero dance experience compete with her? They can't! I think Candace is a winner just for going so far.

M & M were mesmerizing to watch. Their routines were incredible! Are they really dating? It definitely seems like they are at least Chat Icon They way they hang all over each other is the dead giveaway on that.

I don't know if M&M are really dating or if it was an act for the show. A couple of weeks ago I was watching Wendy Williams and she was telling the story of how when she was on DWTS, the producers wanted her to be the "angry, sassy black woman" and she told them to go scratch. She thinks that's why she was booted off on the second week. So who knows, it could all be an act by producers to get ratings, It kinda makes sense seeing as how coy she is when asked if she's dating Maks.... Keeps the mystery alive.

I agree. I think it's an act, after all, it is a ratings based show and people love romance, sexual tension, etc. LOL

Re: DWTS

Amy Purdy was amazing on this show. It really is unbelievable what she was able to do. Some of her dances left me with my mouth hanging open because I couldn't believe what I just saw. With that being said there were some dances that she really struggled with - mostly the slower ballroom dances. Derek did have to get creative with the choreography. But it doesn't take away from the outstanding routines they performed. She absolutely deserved to be in the final.

As far as Meryl and Maks - I don't think it was an act. That's not really something you can fake. I think they just had an intense connection for a period of time. Now that the show is over I doubt it'll continue but it was fun to watch.
