annual exam while preg?
Update: I called the dr again and they said that it is optional while I am pg so I don't have to worry about that now. Thank you all for your responses. I just didn't like the idea of a test like that being forced on me.

I asked my dr about this since I would be due for my annual around this time (I'm currently 20w) and she told me no annual exam till after baby.

When I went for my first appt at 8 weeks they did a pap etc- all the same stuff as the annual exam.
It didn't cause any issues.
I think a pap is pretty routine at your first visit.

Same. The dr. did call it a "pregnancy pap", but to me it felt no different.

annual exam while preg?
I had a pap done at my 8 week appointment in October. Seeing as how its just more or less a cotton swab, I do not see how it could do any harm. If something is wrong, they would most likely not be able to treat it (or even biopsy it), but at least everyone would be well prepared for possible treatments after delivery.

If I didn't have a pap 2 months earlier, they would have given me one while pg.

I'm actually at my 35 week appt right now, and am getting group B strep test and a pap! Had no idea I was getting the pap. I am due for another in may or June so I guess they figure better to do it now!

My doc said no Pap until after birth because there's no need for it, especially if they have always been normal!
