hotels by Central Park

Can anyone recommend which hotel to stay at with a view of Central Park? I know the hotels around there, but personal experience is so much better.

There's a St Regis there that is beautiful but, $$$$.

I've stayed at Le Parker Meridian around the corner and it was nice (except we stayed on a warm day in March and couldn't control the temperature of the room so it was super hot). I think they have partial park views.

If money were no object, I would pick Mandarin Oriental or St Regis. Both are $$$.

We usually stay at a starwood hotel in Manhattan using points at a Sheraton, W or Westin.
