Is your PMS worse since having a baby?
I always got mild PMS- sore boobs, irritability, emotional, bloating, etc But I feel like since have DD it has gotten so much worse- and it lasts from the time I ovulate to the time AF arrives. So like 2 weeks a month of boobs so sore I have to wear a bra 24/7 and can't even let the shower water hit them, retaining 5 lbs of water, crying at the drop of a hat, anxiety, etc
Anyone else experience this after giving birth? Or is it just a side effect of getting older and closer to perimenopause??

Re: Is your PMS worse since having a baby?
Yes!! My cramps are much worse since having my kids and my irritability is awful. Watch out that week before because you don't know which mood swing you'll be dealing with LOL. My poor DH usually gets the brunt of it
Also, my periods are much heavier now too. It sucks.

Same with me, unfortunately.
I'm PMSing for 2 weeks, then AF "visits" for a week (heavier than pre-baby) ... i pretty much have one "normal" week per month.
On the bright (sorta) side, I used to be extremely irregular (like, every 3 months) and now am every 33 days to the dot so at least i know when it's coming.

OMG yes to the regular cycles! I was SO irregular all my life- like insanely irregular to the point you wouldn't even believe me if I told you how long I'd go without a period and how irregular they were. I really thought I'd never even be able to get pregnant on my own. But now- CLOCKWORK It's crazy!

Re: Is your PMS worse since having a baby?
I do feel that it's worse since I had kids but I'm not sure if having kids was the cause of it. I was on birth control for 12 years prior to having kids and I know birth control can help regulate your menstrual cycle. Right now I am not on birth control and my AF are heavier and longer. I also get cramps and bloating which I didn't get before.

Is your PMS worse since having a baby?
I used to have every 28 days... now I'm lucky if I get 14 days between cycles, it's awful! I am constantly bloated, crying over commercials and furniture placement, angry and irritable. And when I do finally get it, I hemorrhage for all seven days, which only helps to make me more exhausted and 'b*tchy' (according to DH).
Plus I still BF - so it annoys me even more, lol.
But the plus side is that my cramps, which used to keep me practically bedridden the first 24 hours, are pretty non existent now. So yay for some minor good news.

Yes! During the time I ovulate I get bad cramps and then PMS! I am much more moody too at the time of the month.

Re: Is your PMS worse since having a baby?
I actually have the opposite w actual menstruation, not pre, but I used to have unbareable cramping (which, now that I've experienced labor, I'm pretty sure were contractions) every time I'd get my period. Since having DS, those have not returned w my monthly bill, just basic cramps now. Not that I'm complaining, but it's strange how that can change after giving birth.

Re: Is your PMS worse since having a baby?
YES! The first two days I have horrible cramps and then i have a heavy AF for a solid week and then ANOTHER week of "yuckiness" :( I feel like I am always dealing with my period in some way! I actually made an appt with the doc for next week because I hate this! I don't want to go on anything though

Re: Is your PMS worse since having a baby?
I can't fully comment on this yet becuase I only had 1 period since I had DD then I got pg with DS. I will say, that period was really weird for me. I had no noticable PMS, I had zero cramps before/during and I had a lighter than usual flow. I normally have wicked cramps and super super heavy flow the first 2 days.
I don't know what will happen going forward when AF returns again but that one period was not bad at all! I'm crossing my fingers that it stays that way but I'm not overly hopeful going by others experiences.

Also, my periods are much heavier now too. It sucks.
I seriously could have written this ^ word. for. word.
Before kids my periods were barely noticeable. Really light, no cramps, no PMS symptoms.
NOW, I'm a complete emotional lunatic the week before my period, and I want to eat everything in the house. Flow is much heavier and cramps sometimes can be unbearable, although that symptom is hit or miss from month to month.
Every month I complain to DH about how I can't believe how different it is since having kids. Glad to hear I'm not alone in my struggle.

I am glad it's not just me too! I swear I almost get divorced every month from my awful moods and emotions! I never really had cramps with my period and still ony have mild ones but I now cramp for days before it comes - which I never had before. And i think my worst symptom is the sore boobs- for 2 full weeks some months. So sore that I can't even lay on my stomach at night or let the shower water touch them. Awful. I have actually taken pregnancy tests more times than I can remember because my symptoms and boobs are that bad that I always think I'm pregnant. I want to ask my Dr to test my hormone levels- I feel like my progesterone might be high in the second half of my cycle causing these issues!

Wow I could of written this myself. This is exactly me. So I guess that just makes 2 of us that our kids "helped" our period. lol

Same here.
I'll probably bite my tongue, but no. It comes without warning. Thankfully, I recognize the ovulation pains but that's my signal. I'm MUCH happier with it. Now, ask DH what he thinks of my moods and you might get a different answer.
