Re: inductions and GD

I was induced & it went great.... vaginal delivery. As soon as I got the first dose my body took over & continued the contractions. It was a long labor (19 hours) which is typical with inductions, but no complications or issues that would have led to a C-section. I did get an epidural, because I couldn't take the pain by the time I was at 4 cm... but if I could have tolerated the pain I wouldn't have gotten one.

Re: inductions and GD

I was recently induced. Also, no issues. I had a vaginal delivery that lasted about 20 hours with an hour and a half of pushing. I did get an epi by choice. I was only given the Cervadil and progressed from there on my own, so no need for Pitocin.

It is nerve racking. I completely understand where you're coming from and was also very nervous. Each person is different, but there are many inductions that do not lead to sections. Good luck and try not to worry too much. Keep us posted.

Re: inductions and GD

I had GD and my dr wasn't going to induce. He monitored me and would have let me go to 41 weeks. Luckily DS showed up on his due date. Do you have to be induced?

ETA: I did end up having to get piton bc my water broke but my labor wasn't progressing. I did not have a CSection.

Re: inductions and GD

I had GD with my DD and was induced. I had a very quick and easy delivery. From the start of the pitocin until DD was born was less than 5 hours. (Vaginal delivery)

Re: inductions and GD

I was induced at 41 weeks. I ended up with a csection but D's was face up with the cord around his neck so he never came down. I think I would have ended up with a csection induction or not.

Before I was induced I searched induction threads and tons of people have had successful ones. I had an epi because once my water broke the pain hit me like a ton of bricks.

Good luck! Regardless you will get your precious baby.

Re: inductions and GD

I was induced at 39w with DC1 due to hbp. Induction went very smooth. I went to 8cm w/o an epi. 12 hrs start to finish with absolutely no issues; I progressed really well. Not all inductions are doomed.

Good luck!!

Re: inductions and GD

I had GD with both my pregnancies and was induced at 40 weeks and them 39. Both times I was able to deliver vaginally, no section. First daughter was 22 hrs labor, 2 hours pushing. Second daughter was 13 hours and twenty minutes of pushing. When they broke my water I went from 3 cm to 10 in 5 minutes! I had an epi with both. Worked great with first daughter. Second daughter they did three times and it didnt take. I also had horrible back labor the second time. You will be fine!

Re: inductions and GD

I was GD and a very mild case but baby was also believed to be IUGR so they wanted to induce me at 39 weeks. I waited till 40 weeks and finally gave in and went for the induction. I told my dr. all day and night I did not want a C section and my number one goal was to have a vaginal birth and I did it!

I did not go drug free - the pitocin contractions are intense. I am not trying to scare you but they come on hard and fast with very little time to recover. I was 4cm and contracting like craZy for an hour and called for the epi. It took me 3-4 more hours to fully dilate. Now I has no plans to go natural but know some friends who did it with pitocin and all so there is hope!

My sister had a BIG baby (not GD) and was induced at 39 weeks. Her labor went beautifully and she had a vaginal delivery.

Of course, once you get meds for induction, it is not a "drug free birth". I personally think an epidural is a great thing.

Finally, have trust in your OB and remember, you can try, but can't plan everything in childbirth.

Re: inductions and GD

I was induced with ds#2 and had a successful delivery. I chose to have an epi because I belive they are our friends in labor.

Good Luck

Re: inductions and GD

I had GD with DD. I did not want to be induced. I really saw no reason to. I was being monitored every week and all was good. I didn't even get to talk it over with my doc because I went into labor at 37w1d.

Let's see what happens with Baby Poo

Re: inductions and GD

4 days before the deadline before id be induced, (bc I was at 40 weeks), my water broke, so I was induced for a different reason! Leading up to everything I had done tons of research and posted questions about induction. I think the best thing to keep in mind is that you can't judge at all how it will go, and be prepare for anything. My cousin was induced and delivered within 3 hours, no drugs. I never dilated, my baby never descended, and I ended up with a c-section, for which I was not prepare at all. What's amazing is that at some point during labor, you really start thinking like a mom, and instead of thinking about what you wanted during pregnancy, you suddenly make all these decisions that will best preserve your energy and be safest and best for the child and for the immediate post-Partum experience. Best of luck!

It helps if you are a little dilated already but even so, all can go perfect. Best of luck and try a little nookie:) Also, I had my son at 37 weeks and he was 7lbs 12 ounces and perfect so going any day is perfectly fine at this time too.

That is good news!
