Annoying Nicknames
My son's name is Dominick. I know its a little long but I love it and I call him by the whole name I don't shorten it to Dom. I even told everyone before he was born in conversation that I didn't like Dom and would be calling him by his whole name.
My husband calls him Dominutch (sp?) like one time in front of his parents and sister and now they are calling him "nutch". I hate it. He is only 5 weeks old so its not like its been going on forever but the last 2 weeks. I feel like I spent so much time deciding on a name and even said I want to use the whole name that now he will be nicknamed "nutch". I dislike it more than Dom.
Would you say something? I just dont want to have any arguments or anything with them. I have had a rocky history with my inlaws in the past. Am I just being an annoying mother?

Yes, you are being an annoying mother and I support you completely! 
My oldest DD's name is Katherine and when I was pregnant with her I thought Katie would be a cute nickname. Well, in the hospital after she was born several people--including my DH--started calling her Katie. Wouldn't you know I broke down crying that night! I thought the name Katherine was so beautiful and worried no one would ever call her that. Long story short, like about two people call her Katie (and I still don't like it) but I've never corrected them. I feel most folks call the kid what YOU call him or her.
Give it some time; you might find the nickname fades away. If not, I'd probably drop some passive-aggressive hints.

Can your husband say something to his parents?
Personally, I think you can't really do much about other people using nicknames. When your child gets old enough, he'll be able to tell people what names he likes or doesn't like.

Yes, I would say something. That would definitely annoy me. I purposely didn't name DS a certain name because I didn't like the nickname MIL was insisting she was going to call him.

I HATE when people nickname my kids. I call them really dumb names that evolve every day like "breezy bop" for Brielle but its ok because I'm allowed.
I tell them to stop.

Since he's so little I would say something but make it to the effect of you wanting to learn his name so you prefer everyone calls him Dominick for now.
Dd name is Alexis and she has learned to respond to it (she's 6 months) if you call her Alex or lexie she pays no attention to you bc she doesn't recognize those name which is fine by us.
We had family call her by her middle name recently And I had to tell them numerous times to stop bc she doesn't go by that name

Yes - I would say something. Personally - I have DS's name is Christian... not Chris... not C... not tristan... or any other thing.. Its Christian

my son's name is benjamin. i usually call him that. also call him ben (whihc is what most people call him)
DH calls him benny. i don't like it much, but coming form dh it's adorable so i allow it. i think he just likes that their nicknames match. Benny and Danny.

DS name is Cole Joseph. People have tried calling him Coley and CJ. They both drive me mad. I make jokes like Uhmm you can't give him a nickname that has more syllables than his actual name! That usually does it for them. lol

This. You can insist that he be called Dominick for now, and people should respect that and not nickname him in front of you. But he's going to go to school one day and probably be called Dom after that (unless you like Nick better, in which case teach him to tell people that).
I'm Christina. My mom hated Chris & Tina as nicknames when I was born & only kinda approved Chrissy. Well, even she calls me Chris now and when I got to highschool, there was another Christina so I became Tina. I didn't mind and didn't stop people from calling me that. To this day, I'm still Tina to many of my friends. (And my mom still hates it).

I just think you should be honest the next time you hear them calling him that. Dom I would let pass but Nutch I've never heard before and it's not even cute. Sounds like a pet name. I would personally say how much I dislike it and for them to call him by his first name so that he can learn that. I would have DH push this with his family too.

DS is Edward. From the beginning I let it be known about my feelings on Eddie. The few people who have done it have gotten an immediate, "No" from me.
I would just keep calling him Dominic in their presence or correct them.

I completely agree and figure that will happen but right now I feel at least family members should respect what I want. Dh has such issues saying anything to his family so we will see. I probably will have to make a joke out of it when someone calls him that. So annoying to me.

I would ignore it and just keep calling him by his name. When he knows his name that is what he will respond to and not nick names. When so and so is calling him by a nick name and doesn't respond and they ask why, you say that isn't what we call him.
My mother hates nick names and I am not really a fan of them myself either. My one brother is Christian and he corrects people when they call him Chris. He hates it and he is 26.
My DD has a name you could shorten but she doesn't like it and she is 6. The only person she call her a nickname is my younger daughter because she can't pronounce her name, I think it will stick between them two though.
