6.5 hour car ride with 6.5 month old...

we are driving to visit family next month...its a 6.5 hour drive and dd will be 6.5 months old. she is very good in the car (but we have never done more than a 2 hour drive with her). Of course we would make a stop or two to feed her (and for us to eat & stretch our legs). do you think its do-able to have her in the car that long or should we stop somewhere half way into our trip and spend the night and continue the next day?

We just did a 5 hour trip for the 4th of July DS was almost 5 months. We didn't stop he pretty much slept he whole time. If he started to fuss I climbed in the back with him and played with him a little.
I don't think it's a big deal to drive straight through but if it makes you feel better to stop go for it

We've been doing 8 hr car rides like every other month since DD was 2 months old. Up until she was about 9 months old, she would sleep most of the way so it was a breeze. It's getting a little tougher now that she is over a year now and doesn't want to sleep the entire way. I think you should be fine, try to plan around nap schedules if at all possible.

I think you can do it in a day at that age. Everyone will be a bit tired and cranky by the end but it won't be too bad and it won't drag on for two days.

My parents live 6-7 hrs away depending on traffic. Both my boys have been doing the drive since 3 months. When they were infants, we left at night around bedtime, so the stops we made did not require us to them out.

I just did the drive yesterday with my 3&4 yr old & we stopped for 35 minutes for lunch. Boys didn't complain.

We drove to Florida when my DD was 6 months old, and she did fine in the car. She slept most of the time, and we stopped a few times to get out, stretch our legs, let her out of the car seat, etc.
