Rolling Stone has always covered current events, and though I know they have pushed the envelope with their covers before, this one is pretty disgusting.
Glorification is just what these terrorists want...this is what the NEXT Dzohakarwhateverthefuck is looking at, thinking HOW COOL it would be to be on the cover of RS.
If I still subscribed, I would keep this issue for any time I might run out of toilet paper.

I agree, I would be TOTALLY fine if they ran an article but I feel like putting him on the COVER does nothing but glorify him.
It makes me think of "Almost Famous" when they do the "Cover of the Rolling Stone" Dr Hook bit. I imagine him that scene playing out in his jail cell bc it is EXACTLY what they wanted. It is a BIG deal to make the cover, it is the ultimate dream of many if not most socially relevant stars/people.

What a slap in the face to all of those victims. Typically I'm pretty indifferent to news stories but this cover made me so angry. It doesn't matter what it says on the cover or what the article is about; this psychopath's face should never have been put on the coveted cover of RS. It was unnecessary and in very poor taste.

While I disagree with putting his face on the cover, I get why they did it.
I think it is important that people are curious about him and his life and what led him to do what he did because you never know who out there is capable of doing something like this again or something worse. I think the more we learn about the minds of those who are willing to perform such violent acts, the more we can work to prevent it in the future. I read article online and I actually think it was a great, well-written article.
However Rolling Stone is and always has been considered a "cool" magazine. And people strive to be on the cover... that should be considered an honor, so I do think that putting him there was in poor taste. If they wanted to write an article about him they should have chose a different photo for the cover.
I read an article once about the kid who killed all those children at Sandy hook elementary school and it made a really good point... there are kids that are outcasts, who are bullied, who feel different and feel that they will never amount to anything. So they do something completely unthinkable and their name and face is suddenly plastered across the world and get the attention they craved all along.
A kid who feels that way could totally get the wrong message by seeing Tsarnaev on the Rolling Stone cover.

agree word for word. I understand the need to dissect how tsarnaev got to that point...but the way they went about it was horribly wrong.

I completely agree with this. I am actually really interested in the article itself, although I have been resisting reading it. It's the glamorization of him like a rock star that I have the problem with.

EXACTLY!!!! There's absolutely no reason for this @SSHOLE to be on the cover! You want to write a story about him, FINE. There's no reason to have his picture on the cover. Its an absolute slap in the face to the victims and it glorifies the killer. Its like putting the kids from Columbine on the cover. If anything, it encourages this type of behavior.
