beach
My DH and I go up to maine for about a week every summer to visit his family. They live in a beach town and this will be our first summer with a baby. My DS will be about 6 months at thetime, just over. I know we wint go to beach all day but would like to take him for a little. I want to buy a pop up tent, any recommendations? Do you think bringing him for a little is okay?

Re: beach
We brought DD to the beach several times when she was that age. We kept her covered and in the shade and she did fine. That was a great age - she wasn't mobile and still slept anywhere.

my DS was 6 months last summer and we had him on our boat all summer long. He was outside all day long. I had sunscreen on him and in the shade when it was possible. He loved it. I also had him a tthe beach a few times and he loved beind in the sand.
He was sittign and crawling at that point.

Re: beach
My kids have been going to the beach since they were infants...we had a pop-up tent, which served its purpose when they were little, but we now have a Sport-Brella that is way better for us. It is really big, so I can sit under it with the kids and it has sides that anchor into the ground. I wouldn't buy the pop-up tent again and would just get this umbrella instead.

Re: beach
As long as he is protected from the sun he will be fine. We took DD once a week when she was about 6 months too.
We used this pop up tent. Pop Up Tent

Re: beach
I think that as long as it's not too hot and you keep him in the shade for most of the time he will do fine. My friend has this tent, she might have gotten it at target, and it was very easy to put together and a nice size for multiple people:

Re: beach
I have three kids and we practically live at the beach ever summer - all summer! I never owned a tent - but an umbrella - at that age it is great I would hold them under the umbrelal when awake, feed them in the stroller under the umbrella and nap them ( I swear my kids take better and longer naps at the beach) in the stroller. As long as they have a cover up the occasional sun is fine bec you can use sunscreen. We are usually at the beach from 11am-5pm and the kids always love every second!
