full time working moms or sahms are not exempt anymore so no ptwms no shot

SAHM are excempt. You just have to furnish your DC birth certificate. I was called, explained I am a SAHM and have no childcare if I needed to appear and I never had to serve nor have I been called back in the few years since I was first summoned.

They cannot require a SAHM to serve. You are the primary care for you child(ren) and many people, myself included, would have nobody to watch my kids if I had to serve. I would happily show up with my two kids in tow if it ever became an issue. Chat Icon

maybe its different for different area, was told in Nassau at jury duty that no one is exempt

Maybe. I am in Suffolk and I had no problems with the exception.

So what do SAHM or single mom's do? Bring their kids with them?
That's a bit ridiculous.
I would have DH- who is a SAHD- bring my 3 year old screaming, bratty, tantrum loving, panty pooping DD to court with him.
I'd love to see how fast they'd excuse his azz!
LOL

When I was summoned 18 months ago it was pretty clearly stated in the documentation that primary child caregivers were exempt. I'm pretty sure ptwm was included. I wrote a letter stating my pt work hours(I only work weekends) and that I did not have weekday child care. I heard nothing back. This was Nassau.

!

I understand what you're saying. Chat Icon I didn't mean to sound harsh either, just making the point that someone like me has ZERO access to childcare so to expect a SAHM to appear at all is kind of impossible. I can only assume they feel like if you already manage to work at least P/T and have some sort of childcare in place you can arrange your schedule and figure something out. I don't know if it's fair or not but I guess it is what it is.

I agree with the above poster, try postponing for now. My DH did it once with no problem. Hope you figure something out, I know it's a pain. Chat Icon

ETA - I messed up the quote, LOL.

No worries! All moms should be exempt!

I was just worried about tomorrow as my # was very close but they are not calling any more people for tomorrow so I got lucky! I wasnt called the entire week and I thought I would be called tomorrow!

Next time I know to at least try write a letter! Thanks everyone.
