Anyone have any experience with a Sleep Walker
My DD who is 6yr old has given signs of sleep walking but my DH thinks I'm crazy..let me explain.. There has been some night were she will walk in my room and just stand there with her eyes open starring at my bed (this freaks the living lights out of me). I ask if everything is okay and then grab her hand and lay her down besides me. Other nights, I will catch her sleeping in her bed Indian Style. I'm a very light sleeper and I have the tendecy to always check on my girls throughout the course of the night. My DH thinks all this is normal, so I let it go...until Saturday night.. DD begged me to sleep in my bed since it was too hot and she claims that since she sleeps on top (bunk bed) she doesn't feel any cool breeze.. So I let her and took her place in her bed. All of a sudden I hear her, walk into her bedroom, I ask if everything is okay and she doesn't reply. She then tries to sleep on top of my other DD and again I ask her if she is okay. Doesn't respond.. I tell her to go back to my bed and go to sleep. She does and I follow her.. When I go to my room, I see her with her legs open and pees on my carpet. I asked, are you okay, didn't you see what you just did, why didn't you just go to the bathroom?? Says nothing back (it's not herself because she always has something to say). I take her pj's off and put new ones and lay her back down. That was the end of it. Do you think she is sleep walking? Should I call her doctor and express my concerns? DH thinks I'm reading too much into it. But I feel like there's something wrong. I should also state that she has expressed how much she hates going to sleep and on some occassions has woken up, frigthen asking to sleep with her. What are thoughts???

Re: Anyone have any experience with a Sleep Walker
Sounds like sleepwalking. I remember sleepwalking myself when I was about 6 or 7. I was told I used to sit up in bed and stare and try to pee in weird places and ask weird questions. I tried to leave the house a few times. I recall some of the events feeling like I was in a fog and couldn't control what I was doing.
In my case it was precipitated by severe stress from bad family situations. Did she take any meds or have a cold or fever? Maybe she is having bad dreams or eating near bedtime? Is the heat getting to her? Any new changes in her world? I would definitely ask the Dr about this.

Anyone have any experience with a Sleep Walker
i was (rarely do it now but it does happen on occasion, im more of a sleep talker now) a chronic sleepwalker... my parents were always afraid i would walk out of the house. I dont think there was ever a trigger that caused it and i never remembered anything unless they woke me up.
Have you spoken to her about it while shes awake? ( dont mean that shes scared to sleep.) but asking her if she remembers anything?

She's not on any meds and nothing has changed that I know of.

I did ask her when she got up, but she looked at me like I was crazy. She got mad when I told her what she did. She fought me and said, she didn't do that. I actually had to take her to my room and show her so she could believe me. She doesn't recall any of it.

Yeah i would get embarrassed too when my mom or siblings brought it up. I basically just grew out of it! I was a little more coherent than how you describe her... but i wouldnt be overly concerned . Does she do it every night?

My ds had had an episode of sleepwalking. Ped says its normal and kids do it. Can also go hand in hand with night terrors. I would talk to your ped because there are ways to slightly disrupt their sleep without waking them that can disrupt the pattern and then will not have the sleepwalking.

Re: Anyone have any experience with a Sleep Walker
Just called the Doctor and he recommended I see a Neurologist. Should I really go ahead and make an appointment?? I don't want to scare her.

Re: Anyone have any experience with a Sleep Walker
My middle DD did this I use to find her sitting up in bed or on the edge of the bed just staring straight ahead. One night she tried to walk out the front door. I got one of those driveway alarms and hang it at the end of the hall. its very unsettling especially when we go away my Dr. offered no advice
